STOP WAITING: TOMORROW IS PROMISED TO NO ONE

I love this! It’s so true and so inspiring! It seems as if many/most of us *know* we aren’t guaranteed tomorrow but we don’t let it sink in, we don’t truly realize it. And this seems true for us no matter what our age is, old or young, we have this delusion of immortality/forever. We feel as if our own selves and everyone we know are going to just always be here. But it’s really not true and it can be viewed in a grim or negative way but it can also be viewed with acceptance and we can see it as just reality and even be inspired by it.ย
Sometimes it’s horrible “wakeup calls” that remind us of this fact of life, like someone we know dying or someone almost dying or a brief brush with death or health scare.ย
But we don’t need these serious things to remind us, we can just remind ourselves each day even when nothing life threatening happens.ย
It’s always great to have reminders like this! Thank you!! โค ๐Ÿ˜€

  1. One of my favorite quotes of all-time came from a comic series called Sandman, written by Neil Gaiman in the eighties and nineties. One of the characters is, quite literally, Death. When people die, she comes to collect them. In one story, she says something to the effect of “You got what everyone gets, you got a lifetime.” It makes you look at death a little bit different…

    • That is interesting! Thank you for sharing! I love things that can provoke us to think of things in different ways. I never heard of that comic series. I somewhat recently read a fiction book though, a horror mystery called “Sandman” about a medical doctor who is a serial killer. Anyway, that quote reminds me how we all who are alive, get this life and it’s up to us how to live it. Thank you for the comment! ๐Ÿ˜€

      • It is definitely worth reading. It is a bit dated at points, but it has aged well. The entire series was about 75 issues and a few specials so it could take some time. “Sandman” is actually one of the Endless, seven figures based on different facets of life. His name is actually Morpheus, but he is Dream. His siblings are Death, Destruction, Despair, Delerium, Desire and Destiny. It is hard to describe it all in a few sentences. But a lot of it has to do with responsibility, power, and how little things can have huge ramifications. Gaiman also wrote an excellent book called American Gods. If you have ever been fascinated by dreams, this is definitely a series for you!

      • It sounds fascinating! Thank you for the suggestions! Yes, I am very interested in dreams and even have a dream journal. I read about dreams a lot! I love that concept that seemingly small things can have a great impact.

      • I don’t think so. I’m not exactly sure what that is. I have a Kindle book about lucid dreaming. I hope to master that skill one day! I remember most of my dreams after I wake up and am fascinated by the subject!
