Appreciate beauty

1659191438-appreciate-beauty-when-it-is-found-beauty-quote

(This isn’t my photo.)

My phone, which I use to post here, is broken! I’m ususing my kkindle now and its kind of slow n difficult to use for blogging but that won’t stop me! My goal is to post or reblog at least one inspiring thing each day! And this photo is a beautiful reminder! Let’s consciously take in, cherish, and appreciate each beautiful thing we find in whichever form it comes to us and not just appreciate what we happen to find but look for the beauty everywhere each day!

My dad is buying me a new phone and it will be coming in the mail soon! A marshmallow droid 6.0! Maybe it will have a WordPress app!! πŸ˜€

Much love & light, always,

“We all take different paths in life, but no matter where we go, we take a little of each other everyhwere.” ~ Tim McGraw ❀

I got this really old penny not too long ago. It's a 1919 wheat penny. I'm not really into coins or a collector but I love wheat pennies! Especially this one because it's the oldest one I ever saw.

IMG_14174293_1

And here it is next to a 1956 one(also a wheatie).

IMG_14174290_1

IMG_14174291_1

Old coins remind me of that quote above. I love thinking of all the people who touched the coin before me. I hold in my hand a penny that someone touched, carried, held in 1919! It’s so amazing!

I imagine someone walking up a cobblestone street, possibly in Philadelphia, with this penny.

It probably no longer has the fingerprints on it of those back then because so many have touched it since then. But it’s inspiring to think of how this penny made it to 2016 and has been touched by many.

I LOVE old things that people have touched before me, years, decades, centuries ago. ❀

I wrote about my love for antiquarian books here:

https://inspirationalgem.wordpress.com/2014/02/22/for-the-love-of-antiquarian-books-things-touched/

One of my favorite things about old money and old, used books is how they have been a part of so many lives, so many people, through the good & bad, the ugly & beautiful, the laughter and tears, the love & pain….

So many of our lives cross indirectly by the things we touch. Forever imprints.

I hope you are having a beautiful day or night wherever in the world you are! ❀

(my King, Oscar, & me last night! We’re in bed getting ready to go to sleep <3)

“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.” ~Leo Buscaglia

This is King Oscar! He used to be Prince Oscar but he has been promoted to King! πŸ˜€

❀

He's an old boy and can't really hear or see but he's very cuddly and loves to snuggle. He sleeps in my bed each night and snuggles on my neck! He also slobbers a lot. eww! lol

He is an extra large shih tzu!

And this is my baby, Boobie. She died yesterday. 😦 </3

She was nearly fourteen years old and her life was just up. I am devestated but so thankful she had a loving furever home with me for so many years.

I had her since she was a pup & I was sixteen years old. I can't imagine this life without my girl. </3

But I focus on the positive, the love, the goodness, the happy memories. She was the sweetest girl, loving and funny, a barker and beggar! lol

She brought us toys and loved to snuggle with my mom!

My mom isn't well after our loss. She loves animals and Boobie was closest to her.

I have loved & lost many pets through the years and know this pain well but it always feels new in a way. Each loss feels unbearable sometimes even though there were many before.

But like I said, I'm focusing on the good and not dwelling too much on the sad loss.

I’m more sad for my baby than for me. I miss her but she’s the one dead. I would have died so she can live if I could have. But that can’t be so I’m just cherishing the love & memories!

July Sunrise <3

(sunrise with a “color pop” effect on it)

“There’s always a story. It’s all stories, really. The sun coming up every day is a story. Everything’s got a story in it. Change the story, change the world.”~
Terry Pratchett

(I don’t know if this source is correct)

Today I woke up early and watched the sun rise. Beautiful & inspiring & magical as always! Β

Isn’t this a sweet quote?! So empowering. If we create positive stories, maintain positive thoughts and attitudes and energy, it will change the world around us and at the very least, our inner world. But our energy, thoughts, actions….have a ripple effect and go out into the larger world for better or worse. Let’s make it better! πŸ˜€ ❀

“When you’re weary, feeling small
When tears are in your eyes, I’ll dry them all (all)
I’m on your side, oh, when times get rough
And friends just can’t be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down”

Blessing <3

IMG_14167501(1)

“Hold on to what is good even if it is a handful of earth. Hold on to what you believe even if it is a tree which stands by itself. Hold on to what you must do even if it is a long way from here. Hold on to life even when it is easier letting go. Hold on to my hand even when I have gone away from you.” ~Pueblo blessingΒ

I love this quote!! It’s a beautiful reminder to treasure what is good in this life, even simple and mundane things like Earth, a single tree, nature, a simple goal…. and that we don’t need a lot to live and experience happiness.Β

There’s always something good to grasp and savor even when it seems like all is wrong in the world. Even a handful of soil in our hands is beautiful, a reminder that we are alive, here on Earth and can feel, experience, sense.Β

It’s so inspiring and so motivational, encouraging us to keep going, keep living, never giving up even when it seems easier to quit, whether it’s quitting an education that will contribute to a future job we are made for, because it seems too difficult, quitting a loved activity/hobby out of frustration or criticism by others, quitting a relationship that is worth holding onto just because of some challenges, giving up our faith that life is good and people are good, just because of very unpleasant encounters and situations and betrayal…, or quitting life itself because of depression, fear, anxiety, pain, illness….never give up!

This message is so profound, so wise, so inspiring.Β

“Hold on to my hand even when I have gone away from you.”

And I love the part about holding hands even when one of us goes away. Whether we lose someone through a breakup, just drifting apart, or through death, that person can still inspire us and we can still inspire that person(or whatever living being).Β

Someone doesn’t have to see us or even want to necessarily, to cherish our memories together, treasure our love, be reminded of life lessons learned…

We can still hold hands even if we aren’t physically together. ❀

This is a stunningly beautiful quote and I'm so happy to share it here!! πŸ˜€ ❀

I hope it inspires others as deeply as it inspires me. ❀ ❀

Much love & light, always,

Me & you and a dog named Boo(bie) <3

img_14166983

“…Oh how I wish
We were back on the road again

Me and you and a dog named Boo
Travellin’ and livin’ off the land
Me and you and a dog named Boo
How I love being a free man
I can still recall
The wheat fields of St. Paul
And the morning we got caught
Robbing from an old hen
Old McDonald he made us work
But then he paid us for what it was worth
Another tank of gas
And back on the road again”

I LOVE this song!! One of my favorites!Β

It brings strong feelings of nostalgia welling up inside.

I love how this song is about being a free spirit, full of life & love.

And I love how he’s reminiscing about long ago and wants to travel again.

Also, this song reminds me of my sweet girl, Boobie! Boobie will be fourteen years old in September! She has boy/girl twins who will be 2 years old this month! She’s a great mommy and still takes great care of them. ❀ ❀

Boobie is the sweetest girl and loves to snuggle, especially with my mom. She's so happy and has always been very youthful. She is also a big beggar! She throws her head back and opens her mouth to show us where food goes when she wants to eat. It's so cute! And she always would bring us toys to get our food.

boobskokoelphia-20130113-041622(1)

Boobie's best fried is our adorable dog, Koko. Koko died of old age in April 2013 right around her 14th birthday. It's heartbreaking but at least she lived a long, happy life with us, just like Boobie. Koko was very loving and gentle. Boobie still remembers her name and when she hears it, her ears go up. So I say K.O. when I’m talking about her so Boobie won’t think she’s coming back. </3 ❀

And these are Boobie’s twins! (and me!)

And this is Emmy, Boobie’s baby daddy. He’s only three years old and he’s a great daddy and also very snuggly! ❀

Under the hat

IMG_14174016_1

“Push through anything that would stop you.”

http://www.puttingourheadstogether.com/

The month of June is considered Headache Disorder Awareness Month and this organization “Putting Our Heads Together” has an Under the Hat project to bring awareness to chronic head pain. On June 25th we were supposed to upload pics to social media of ourselves wearing a hat.

Mine is late but better late than never! πŸ˜‰

Here is a youtube video created by a girl named, Anna, about head pain and pushing through it.

This Day- mobile

This Day – desktop
So inspiring! ❀

I don’t have migraine headaches but have another chronic headache disorder which is generally mild but flares up to seemingly unbearable levels and can be debilitating. It’s the stuff nightmares are made of.
I can have four kinds of headaches resembling sinus headache(this is the kind I experience in general), tension headache (least painful), migraine headache (second most painful but to me, the most debilitating usually), and cluster headache(most agonizing), and other kinds of facial pain.

There’s no known cure and not much effective treatment. Pain pills aren’t always prescribed by doctors to those with chronic pain and don’t really work anyway. And even if they work for some pain, it’s unfortunate to have to either live in agony or live all drugged up.

While mine is generally mild and I’m not always in pain, some have debilitating pain everyday or most days.

It’s so difficult to have to endure.

But we can learn to cope with this pain when it flares up and live with happiness and joy anyway. πŸ˜€

Some people with cluster headaches try to invalidate the pain of those with migraine headaches. Cluster headaches are considered by some doctors to be the worst head pain known to medical science and one of the worst kinds of pain known to medical science. They hurt worse than kidney stones. People who have experienced broken bones and childbirth have said it hurts worse than that. I have had kidney stones myself and can say, it does hurt worse.
I haven’t experienced broken bones or childbirth myself so can’t say for me but by the descriptions it does seem to hurt worse.

It feels like a hot poker being driven through the eye socket, like being severely burned, like our nerves being tweezed. I heard it described as feeling like a jagged edged saw rubbing over the nerves.
Yes, it feels like the worst hell on Earth. But just because it feels worse than a migraine headache doesn’t mean migraine headaches are not terrible. They are also a living hell.
And if someone only ever felt migraine pain and not cluster pain, those people don’t have the cluster pain to compare it to so to them migraine head pain is the worst. But some have felt both kinds of pain and both are horrible.

I believe no one’s pain should be invalidated and all deserve compassion.

To me, the cluster head pain is so bad it like makes it seem in a way, that everything else I ever considered pain is obliterated after I discovered this kind of pain. And when it’s flaring up, almost nothing else in the world matters to me and I don’t have a care in the world except that pain. But anyone suffering in any way is worthy of empathy and compassion. ❀

My love & compassion go out to all with a chronic pain disorder.

And here is a song with funny lyrics:

Big Ass Headache – Justin Moore – mobile

Big Ass Headache – desktop

“I feel like I’ve been rode hard and hung up wet
Swallowed by a mule and crapped off a cliff
I drank enough whiskey to fill up a lake
Woke up this morning with a big ass headache
Y’all I ain’t kidding this son of a bitch hurts
Where the hell are my pants must be with my shirt
I still got my boots on but make no mistake
They can’t help me kick this big ass headache”

lol!

Love for all <3

IMG_14173721(1)

(not my photo)

Love for all irrespective of religious views, political views, skin color, ethnicity, race, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, weight, size, disability, mistakes made, occupation, species, political/voting decisions, country, nationality…..all lives matter. ❀

In just about every group we can think of there's those who are good and those who act in not so good ways. Every religion and political affiliation and racial group has people who are compassionate and loving and generous and empathetic and those who are murderers, criminals, extremists, those who hold prejudicial attitudes towards others.Β

In every breed of dogs there are loving, gentle ones, and vicious ones who kill or would if they could or had the chance.Β

In almost every profession, we have those who are cold and uncaring and in it for money or image and those who are truly caring and want to help.Β

I don't care (in a negative way) which presidential candidate someone is voting for or what religion someone practices or believes in or none at all. It won't contribute to me loving the person less even if I disagree. While I have passionate views on some things, I can still love those with opposing views without feeling that my own are being compromised or that my sense of morality is being weakened. Β

And we don't have to judge a whole group of people based on a few or even many in that group. Even if every single person in a group is "bad" except one, we don't have to judge that one based on all the rest.Β

I wish love and inner peace for everyone. ❀

This is possible! We can have inner peace and true happiness no matter our circumstances/external factors. People who say universal love is a beautiful concept but not possible or practical probably don't understand the true concept. In its most basic form, it's wishing everyone the best no matter what. We can't all get the same job at an interview and won't all agree on things and some will be financially rich while others are homeless with next to nothing but true inner peace is about our attitude and positive decisions even if we have to "Fake it til you make it."

Even if we don't wish someone the best in that person's political endeavors because we have opposing views, or we don't wish the best on an interview because we want that job or hope our friend gets it instead of a stranger, we can still wish that person/s inner peace and true happiness in general. Β We don't need the job to have inner peace and happiness.Β

Also, I believe most of us on every side of an issue have good intentions even if we seem stupid or vicious to each other. On issues like gun control, abortion, political candidates….we see so much viciousness and passion being used in a negative way. But if we truly think about it, we may come to understand that most of us want the same thing, a happier, safer world, people/animals stop being killed, an end to the violence, more love, more compassion, more understanding, autonomy. We just have different ways on how to go about it.

We can keep our passionate views and stand our ground, stand strong and firm and speak up for and speak out against but still understand that on "the other side," their conviction is just as strong as ours and they too only want the best for us all.Β

We can passionately disagree and debate but still keep loving. Β

I want to promote love in various ways, "promote what we love instead of bashing what we hate."

Promote our side instead of bashing (constructive criticism is good) the other or those who promote it. ❀

~Love for all~
