Our Purpose

IMG_14170161(1)_1

“Be your own purpose.”

This is a great reminder out of the Kindle book I love “365 Wisdom Pills.”

Sometimes we may feel that things outside of our own self give us purpose like other people, money, things, our job, certain skills we have….or that without certain things, we have no purpose, but we are our own purpose for living.

People say things often like find your purpose or your life’s purpose and live it. At first this may seem all inspiring or motivational but truly think about it? It can be kind of degrading.

I don’t believe we each have a specific purpose. Suppose we think our purpose is to get married and then that person leaves us?

Then what? We have no purpose? What if we feel our purpose is a certain hobby like running or traveling then we become paralyzed or too sick to travel or run? Then we suddenly become purposeless? Or what if our “purpose” is to help others in a certain way then we suffer some loss and can’t? What if you’re a surgeon then you suffer an injury or lose your practice or license or something? Then you have no reason to exist?!

What if we become confined to a chair, paralyzed at the neck down and can’t even turn our head? There are people like that! And some are very happy! There’s a lady who is a painter and can paint with a brush in her mouth and she’s like the happiest person! She cannot move most of her body and she’s so happy and so full of purpose. I don’t know much about her but my dad told me about her years ago. We did not know her personally. He used to carry a picture of one of her paintings in his wallet to remind himself that it’s possible to be happy and love life no matter what. Her ability to paint isn’t what gives her purpose. She is a living, sentient being who exists. That’s her purpose.

And what about people who have severe brain damage or were born with complications and can’t feed themselves? They can’t walk or hardly talk or anything, yet they have purpose. No less than I do. And they are happy too. They can smile and look around and feel. I used to walk by a school for children like this, with extra needs, when I was walking to class in college. They were in wheelchairs, some with feeding tubes and oxygen and I saw them smile and make contact with people helping them and walking by.

It’s like cruelty to claim that someone like this has less of a reason to live than anyone else! And some people do claim that!

I don’t feel sorry for people with disabilities or brain damage as long as they are alive. I don’t feel sorry for mothers who give birth to extra needs children. Those people don’t need and probably do not want my sympathy or sorrow. They are a blessing and I have compassion for them just like I have for anyone else. They are not necessarily suffering and are not without purpose. And even through our suffering, we have purpose.

When I was a young girl in middle and high school, I made my whole “purpose” to be about getting good grades. I did not have perfect grades but I got honor roll every semester. I frequently felt that I had no reason to live. But I reminded myself that I did have a reason to live, I got good grades! Then one day I got my report card and got a C in math! I seriously contemplated killing myself after school that day. I was really going to then lost the nerve. Not that suicide takes true courage, it does take some kind of fearlessness or determination but that’s not true courage. True courage is choosing to live even when it’s so hard. But whatever was giving me the balls to kill myself, suddenly dissipated when I got the chance. That has happened frequently.

Not everyone who feels like there’s no purpose wants to kill themselves but it’s an unpleasant, painful way to live!

So it’s good if we can all realize that our purpose is us. We don’t need anything else to give us a reason. It’s great to have passions, interests, goals, plans, people….but they aren’t our reason for living.

Hugs & love to you! ❤

Live in Love <3

“Live a life with no regrets
Always act with love.”

Just a little reminder about how we can never go wrong with love. I will never regret being “too” kind or “too” caring but I have regretted being less than kind. I will never regret acting with love even if it isn’t returned to me. Even if something turns out not how we wanted, if we had good intentions, there’s nothing to regret. And if we had negative intentions, we can be sorry and move forward and try to act more wisely in the present and future.

No not just for some but for everyone.”

Make their inner light shine and they in turn will make your light shine.

This is true, I don’t do some things when kids are around that I may do when they aren’t. For example, crossing a street when the light isn’t green or the walking signal, even if there are no cars. I often cross streets when there’s no traffic if the light is red or says don’t walk. But if children are waiting to cross too, I don’t because I don’t want to encourage them to do that. It may seem hypocritical in a way but still I don’t want kids crossing like that. If a parent wants to cross with kids like that it’s one thing but I don’t want to unintentionally encourage them to. We may not always realize but kids do see and hear what is going on and they can pick up our ways even if they aren’t around us often. I think it’s good to be mindful of what messages we are sending out into the world. Not even just for kids but even other adults. It’s good to inspire each other with positive messages.  😀

Everyone Love Everyone

Beautiful! I completely agree! I see the looks some mothers of screaming kids get, like they are disgusting or something. How about instead we have compassion for the moms with kids screaming their heads off? They are usually doing the best they can! I don’t have kids but I understand it’s not always easy and not all kids listen even when they are disciplined. It must be so hard having to do everything they have to do with kids screaming hysterically on top of it! Let’s give them a warm smile instead of the dirty looks. How about saving some change and putting it aside in case we see a homeless person or someone in need? Every penny can help! How about not complaining or acting in a rude way to someone who gets in our way on the streets or on a crowded bus? We never know what that person may be enduring and one unkind act can add to it. But one loving act can make it even just a fraction better or a bit easier to endure. How about being patient with a frazzled cashier or server? It’s not always easy to be so busy with lines of people waiting to be served or get stuff rung up and we never know what problems the person may have going on. Every single day on our way to work, at work, on our way home, out in public, interacting with people, we have the chance or temptation to become distressed, act in a rude manner, complain, or the chance to smile at someone, practice patience, reach out our hand to help, to love…lets reach out in love..love is any kind gesture or any attempt to make things better for someone else…what a great reminder! ❤

I am always trying to do good deeds:

I bought a girl her stuff at the dollar store.  She kept having to put stuff back, counting her change, it wasn’t for necessities either.  I didn’t judge her.  I had her get back her hat and everything she put back and I paid the balance for her.  I always try to smile, be happy and pay it forward.

I bought an elderly couple, potatoes, they told the lady they thought it was on sale and to put it back.  I told them to keep it on their bill and paid for it.

There was a child at Circle K that was buying candy and a soda.  I paid for it on my bill because I was first in line.  The smile on that child’s face priceless!

My children and I have given to many people on the corners.  Food, money, drinks…

Forgiveness

1447301288197eSmart_3___fancy4

“There is no greater forgiveness than the forgiveness for oneself.”

I saw this quote today and it’s a great reminder. Sometimes other people won’t forgive us for something but it’s ok as long as we forgive our own self for whatever we did whether it’s to our own self or to someone else we did wrong.

We will probably make mistakes as long as we live, whether they are intentional, careless, or just an honest mistake. But we can acknowledge we were wrong, admit it, then move forward and try to do better and learn things.

It’s a quote I found in a Kindle book, “365 Wisdom Pills.”

This book is full of great ideas, put very briefly & simply!

Good day or night to you! It’s night here, I just got out of work!

Just before dawn

IMG_14170095_1

(I took this picture walking to work today!)

“When you feel sad, desperate and hopeless, remember: the darkest hour comes just before the dawn.”

I saw this quote today and decided to share. It’s sweet & inspiring but I’m not completely sure if the darkest hour really comes just before dawn. I asked my sister if it’s true or just a cheesy quote. She said both! lol I love cheesy quotes!

I have been struggling with a bit of depression and a migraine-like headache and when I saw this quote it cheers me up a bit. I have been having some depressive thoughts that aren’t that good and been angry for no specific reason. Sometimes I have fullblown episodes of depression and sometimes just symptoms, like now. It’s not the worst headache or worst depression I ever felt but still not good. But for the most part, I have a good attitude.

I hope it will uplift someone else!

Hugs & love to you!

A hero like you

“The only conclusion I come to
Is heaven was needing a
hero like you.”

Superheroes and Supervillains: you loved everything and anything to do with the Marvel characters.

We have many comics of yours upstairs, some still in their protective plastic sleeves, as they are old editions.
We have your Marvel books, videos, DVD’s, toys and t-shirts, too.

Really and truly you liked the Supervillains more, those who were up to no good, those who thought they could get away with their evil deeds. They were the naughty, but exciting ones to you.

And here you are in the clutches of the Green Goblin, one of the villains who plagued Spiderman:

Laughter in the Rain

1446776831244eSmart_5___1

“The stranger is here. I can feel it. She’s close.
The words vibrated in the dark room and stirred the night air inside the small izba at the far end of Tivil, where two dark-haired figures leaned close across a table within an uncertain circle of light. A measured sprinkle of aromatic powder sent a spiral of flashes swirling out from the single candle flame that burned before them. Together they inhaled its delicate fragrance.
‘I’ve drawn her close,’ Rafik murmured. ‘So close I can hear her heartbeat in Tivil.’
His hand hovered over a black cloth on which lay a heavy crystal sphere. It gleamed, shimmered, and seemed to pulse in the darkness as the gypsy’s hand circled above it, slow and attentive, listening to its voice.
‘What do you hear?’ whispered the olive-skinned girl.
‘I hear her heart tearing. I hear her blood spilling, drop by drop, and yet…I hear her laughing.’ The sound was sweet as birdsong in his ears.”
(The Red Scarf, Kate Furnivall, pp. 52)

Isn’t this beautiful?! It’s out of a novel I’m reading that takes place in 1933 about a young woman who escapes a Siberian labor camp to try to help another prisoner escape later.
Labor camps are prisons where many innocent people were locked up unjustly and for stupid reasons like just disagreeing with authority.
They are tortured and not taken care of. They are worked sometimes literally to death. They are killed if they make mistakes or do not submit to authority. Many died before their sentence was up. This story isn’t real but labor camps were.

In prison, this young woman, Sofia, meets another young woman, Anna, and they become very close friends. Anna saves Sofia’s life when Sofia gets cut and it becomes infected. She cares for her day and night until it heals. The guards and others do not take care of the prisoners and couldn’t care less if they die, are sick or in pain.
Anna tells Sofia often, about the boy she loves and hasn’t seen in years. Sofia takes great pleasure in the beautiful stories Anna tells. It’s what sees her through the pain of being locked away in a labor camp day after day, year after year.
Anna becomes deathly ill and Sofia wants to get her out of there and get her proper care but Anna is too sick to escape so Sofia risks her life escaping so she can go find Anna’s lover and bring him back to her so Anna can escape.
I haven’t read much of the book yet but on the back it says Sofia finds Anna’s love, the boy she still loves after all these years, and Sofia falls in love with him! Uhh ohh! :-/

But it’s more than just a love story involving romantic & platonic love. It’s a mystery and full of danger and adventure. It has a lot of substance and the characters have depth unlike a lot of characters in romantic love stories, who seem one-dimensional.
I love how it’s a love story that involves both friendship love & romantic love. I love novels about friendship.

This book has over 400 pages. I’m on page 73.

So I don’t know what happens later in the story but it seems Sofia finds herself in a position where she can potentially make a choice to betray her friend or remain loyal but deny herself the love she has for her friend’s man. I hope she will choose loyalty to her friend.

I want to share the scene above because it’s beautiful and mysterious and I believe it’s a positive message how we can find joy & laughter even in the midst of sorrow, anxiety, and uncertainty.

The man and young girl above are father & daughter, Rafik and Zenia, and the teenage girl, Zenia, finds the young woman, Sofia, stealing vegetables out of their garden before Sofia suffers a head injury and falls unconscious. The father and daughter take Sofia in, knowing she’s a fugitive and it can put their own lives in danger. But they are good people who want to help her. The man and his daughter have some psychic abilities. They don’t know everything though and the daughter’s are not as strong as her father’s.

It’s a lovely book if the part I read up until now is any indication.

So, I hope you are having a great day or night and lots of love to you! ❤
