Beautiful quote

“Love is more than what we feel for another person.  It is the scent of lilacs, roses, the ocean breeze or fresh summer rain.  That thing that makes your heart smile when you breathe it in.  Love is a summer breeze, the first snow flake, a big hug or a warm blanket on a chilly day.  It is that thing you feel when you are wrapped up in or touched by something wonderful.  Love is grass on your bare feet or sand between your toes, it is the splash of the ocean or the warmth of the sun. It is that sense of touching something bigger then you that makes you realize how special we are to experience this moment, now, here.  Love is million tiny moments that happen to the beat of our heart.  That stirs our senses and awaken our spirits.  That reminds us that when we fall we are not defeated, just seeing a different view feeling a different feeling.  Love is what we feel with, touch with, see with.  It is the one constant that makes our lives better.  The added bonus isn’t love it is sharing all your love with the ones you love.  “~ Cheryl Nordyke

Just sharing this beautiful quote I have seen today! Love it!

I think it’s a sweet reminder to appreciate all the simple pleasures and beauty all around us.

Grief, Loss, & Healing

I mentioned in previous posts that last month, my beautiful sweet fur baby, Koko died of old age. She was fourteen years old and my family had her for twelve years. It is one of the worst pains I have ever experienced. The fact that she was old and lived a full dog life with us brings me a sense of consolation but my grief was / is still so very strong.   It hurts. So deeply. She was a significant part of me.

She slept with me and on my chest so many nights. I carried her around and loved and hugged and kissed her. I had her since I was a fourteen year old girl until I became a 26 year old woman.   It’s unbelievable that she’s gone.
I got her in high school and she was there at every stage of this life of mine.   When I struggled with depression, hospitalizations, graduations, loneliness, new people, college, just everything.

I can’t believe I’ll never hold her again.

Some moments that fact hits me so hard so deep. It cuts me. And it hurts. How can my sweet, sweet beautiful Koko be gone? Forever!? It’s incomprehensible.   It’s astounding.   I can’t believe it.

I can’t. It’s too sad. She was my baby. For about three weeks after Koko died, my grief was the number one thing I felt over anything.   I have a generally happy life so underneath my grief I felt happiness but it was drowned out by the grief. I could hardly laugh or joke and be my lighthearted self for weeks. Finally, my zest for life returned and my grief took the back burner and my happiness returned to the top again with some occasions my grief becoming strong again.

But generally, my happiness was at the front. I know grief heals but never ever goes away. The edge usually goes away in general and that raw pain like in the beginning doesn’t take over in general anymore. For many people, the raw pain may make an appearance through the years every now and then.   Maybe triggered by something or maybe just coming out of nowhere. But it’s no longer a constant after healing begins.

The raw pain of the loss of my sweet girl came back about a week ago.   I expected it would at some point. And I expected it would go again. For the last week I have been struggling hard with it. I miss my Koko and I want so badly to hold her close and kiss that sweet head again. She kissed Soooo much! She loved to kiss.

I have so many, many pictures of her and I am incredibly thankful for that even though it hurts to see them. I can see her so clearly in my memories.

I want my grief to continue healing but I don’t want it to ever go, as painful as it is. It is an indication of true love & blessing.

It’s hard because not everyone understands the severe agony of pet loss so I cannot express my pain to everyone. Many, many people believe it’s just sad when a pet dies but not a “Real” or serious loss. People can think, feel what they will. But this is a big, and horrible loss for me.

I am angry. And I have been feeling as if I’m acting like a spoiled little ungrateful brat focusing on what I don’t have instead of what I do.

But I know that’s not true.   Grieving is ok.

Today I woke up with my heart pounding at the thought that I will never see my girl again. Not ever.

So I have to accept it. I have to. For me.

It’s not easy. But it just is.

Shortly after Koko died, I saw a sign hanging up that said pomeranian puppies for sale. A family had a litter of puppies that their dogs unexpectedly had and they had to find homes.

We had three other dogs already and were not looking for another. My mom had to go to a check cashing place. I complained. I usually go everywhere with my mom and did not want to go but she had to so we went. I walked in the door with a heavy heart. So broken and heavy.

I stood there trying to keep my grief at bay. I looked up across the room for no reason and there was that sign!

I couldn’t believe it! Koko was part pomeranian!! And no dog can ever replace her and make it ok that she’s gone even if I love that dog just as much but I wanted to give one of those babies a home.

My mom told me to copy the info. But she said my dad probably would not allow us to get one of those pom poms because my dad doesn’t like to have more than a few pets and we already had some.

But I copied it and when he came home after work i told him about the sign. He wasn’t as thrilled as we were but surprisingly to us it wasn’t completely out of the question either. I’m very, very shy even on the phone and I rarely make phone calls to people I don’t know or know well.   Even as an adult I used to have my mom make my phone calls for me for things like therapists and stuff.

My dad told me to call the family selling those pups. Like I said before, these are not puppy mill or pet shop pups and I don’t support puppy mills and the atrocities and horror those places are full of. This is just a family with a litter of pups their dogs had.

Some how I mustered up the courage to call! And the lady told me there was one boy left! One boy waiting for his loving forever home!

I have never lived a day of my life without a pet and never will.   In my family we never ever give pets away. No matter what. No matter how bad they are. Lol! 🙂

And I  love them like people.   So I knew that boy would have a loving furever home with us.

He was the last pup just waiting. They had him in a playpen and he was standing up wagging his little  tail and was so so happy to see us. He smothered me with kisses when I held him. Just like Koko used to.  And he has Koko’s face! But certainly not her personality!   She was calm and gentle and reserved.

This little boy is a terror! He’s wild and energetic and gets into everything he can get his little paws on!

He wasn’t afraid or anxious coming with us. I am so thankful that it was him there who we got to bring home. We had him for a little bit over a month and I can’t imagine not having him.

He is absolutely perfect.   I love how it’s like honoring Koko. He’s the same breed but full breaded and he’s like her life’s gift to us. I would never ever have wanted Koko to go away just to get another new dog. I wanted to hold on to her forever.   But I couldn’t and with this horrible situation we have him. This perfect five month old little pup.

Even my dad, who was reluctant at first and likes to be in control of everything is happy we got him and he calls him his son! Lol

His name is Emmy.  And everyone loves him. Even the other dogs.   Boobie who was Koko ‘s best friend in the world and was heart broken to lose Koko did not like Emmy at first. She avoided him like the plague. Now she loves him and plays with him the most! Koko did not usually play, she just snuggled.   Boobie is ten years old and all she does is play with five month old Emmy! He brought out her playful side.

Sometimes at night when I’m grieving so hard over my loss, I look next to me and see sweet little Emmy sleeping and I am overcome with gratitude and joy. It doesn’t take away my severe pain but it does ease it somewhat to know something good has come of this agonizing circumstance.

Yesterday Emmy ripped my nose ring out! It has been pierced for about nine years and was never out! But yesterday morning when I was half sleeping it looked like a great plaything and he leapt up and ripped it out! It was bleeding! It needs special equipment to get it on and off but somehow he got the ball off and it flared up my pain disorder so bad. So my pain has been quite excruciating!   Tomorrow I have to go to the piercing place and get it put back in.

I love that sweet boy.

My mom, dad, and sister believe in signs and that things were /are “Meant to Be.”. I do not believe that.  They believe Emmy is “God’s ” gift or that Koko sent him to us. I don’t believe in anything of that sort but I love the way it all worked out.

I wanted to write something for myself to express my pain inside but also to let people know or remind people of the blessings all around, even in horrific situations. There’s always something good. It’s ok to grieve how you must as long as it takes.

I have lost animals my whole life because I have always had them and it’s always sad. But as a teenager and younger I did not feel negative or painful emotions as strongly as when I grew up.

Another sad loss I have experienced two years ago this month is the loss of a human friend, John. I never hung out with him but I saw him frequently and I love/d him as a friend. He died of an illness of the liver. It was shocking and devastating and still is sometimes. It is also one of the worst kinds of pain I ever had to endure.  But I let myself grieve and heal.

I am blessed with happy, loving, & funny memories of him.

He was a friendly, funny, and very loving man. And I am blessed to have known him.

One song that helped me cope with his death is: “Return to Innocence” by Enigma.

“Don’t be afraid to be weak
Don’t be too proud to be strong
Just look into your heart my friend
That will be the return to yourself
The return to innocence
If you want, then start to laugh
If you must, then start to cry
Be yourself don’t hide”

Shortly after he died I felt guilty for still feeling pleasure in things but I know I can’t stop living just because others have died. I am still here and I must go on.

My heart goes out to anyone who is grieving for any reason whether your loss is recent or many, years ago.   I hope you soon find the strength, hope, and consolation you need.

Some blackberry camera photos I took

So I totally just posted an entry full of lovely pictures and NONE showed up! And I was totally bragging too about the amazing wordpress app for BlackBerry Z10 and how it will allow me to post a shitload of pics. Lol well it’s still amazing but I think the problem is it cannot handle a heavy amount of photos. Maybe 2 or 3? Still better than what I can do with my phone without the app! 😀

So let’s see here are some pics I took with this crazy amazing phone of mine!

Lifeless & Inspired

I have been so inspired to post here for the last few days. I have been having amazing, inspirational thoughts swirling around in my head like magic and have been wanting to share but I couldn’t. Because of work. I have been working every single day for almost two weeks straight and often very long shifts with no breaks.

We have no breaks like lunch breaks where I work because my boss is generous and let’s us eat & drink whatever we want whenever we want.   So we don’t have scheduled breaks.   And I don’t have a problem with that.   But when it’s busy it’s difficult to get a chance to even take a quick swig of soda! And it sure has been busy. And it’s sucking the life out of me.

My only coworker recently had surgery and has been out for a while and my boss and manager were on vacation for a couple weeks. So I have been practically running the place myself with almost no help. And it has taken a toll on me!

My job itself is not life draining. I love working at the store and it’s generally a very positive environment.   But working almost two weeks with no day off and extremely long hours is life draining.

And to top it off on Monday, my manager’s first day back after her vacation I had work that night after an eleven hour shift the day before and when I came into work my manager complained to me about the floor. And the sinks. I mopped the floor three times the night before but our mop was old and not so effective anymore. I soaked it thoroughly but it still put gray streaks across the floor. Not bad ones but still noticable.

I did every single thing I was supposed to do. I got out of work a half hour late making sure the place was clean as can be and my manager complained to me!   After I took over the place when no one else could or would! I had to put my own needs and desires on hold and neglect them for work. And it was unpleasant.

I was not expecting an extra pay, or appreciation, or a thank you or anything like that! But I surely wasn’t wanting to get complained to for something so trivial that doesn’t happen often and wasn’t even something I did intentionally or carelessly.

That took the life out of me even more. Even my one day off I was too exhausted to do much. I just mostly slept the whole day.

It’s not just work though, my new puppy is like a human baby. He wakes me up in the early morning and for the next few hours wants to play literally non stop! He will not let me sleep and I am so exhausted for the rest of the day! Lol. But he is a cutie and I love that boy!

Here’s the little terror right here.

Parts of my days for the last few I  have felt so lifeless but then it would rain or flowers would bloom or I would look up at the beautiful bright blue sky dappled in pretty whiteclouds and life would surge right through me again.   And I would have the strength and the motivation to keep going.

I absolutely love Nature ‘s sweet gifts.

This is the view outside my bedroom Window! How blessed I am! These perfect purple flowers bloomed on the tree this Spring. A little bit of heaven right here on Earth! Oh yes, how lovely.

I took a pic of this old fashioned looking trolley and then put a vintage effect on the photo to make it look even more old fashioned! I am quite the photographer! Lol jk!

And I just laughed really hard at my own joke. I’m talking about a good belly laugh!

;-p

One of our Septa busses here in beautiful Philadelphia!

This is me.

Me again.

So i’ll end the pictures in this post here.

In this post I will let people know that it’s ok to not always be strong or feel strong or be perfect in everything you do.

Whatever your definition of strong or perfection is, or whatever definition of those you feel the need to live up to it’s ok to sometimes let it go.   It’s ok to have mini “Breakdowns” and get angry, stressed, frustrated, or cry and complain.

You don’t always have to give it your all.

That’s not something we hear often but sometimes it’s best to rest and not try so hard.

You can slack or rest. Be good instead of great. Or ok instead of good sometimes. That’s ok.

You can collapse into bed and just rest all day when you have nothing to do or even blow off certain things you are expected to do just to care for yourself.

You can skip your exercise routine once in a while or even take a day off work or class.   But don’t skip sleep or rest or food.

It’s ok to feel weak sometimes.

Also everyone has problems now and then. Some may seem worse than others or more deserving of empathy or sympathy or more “Appropriate” to complain about but just because someone else’s problem seems worse doesn’t mean yours isn’t real or bad or that you should keep yours bottled up inside just because it seems like “Less”. Other people’s problems do not obliterate yours.

If it inspires you to think “There are worse problems so I should feel Grateful.” then definitely think that way! But if it just hurts you and makes you feel guilty then let that thought go and let yourself complain and release and express your emotions in a healthy way.

Your emotions, thoughts, and your problems are valid and deserving of attention.  And you don’t have to feel guilty. Just be.

It’s ok not to feel grateful every second of everyday. In my opinion we should definitely generally live a life of gratitude and develop or strengthen the habit of being grateful and seeing the positive often, even almost always, but it’s definitely ok to sometimes just vent and admit that we don’t always feel grateful or happy.

Negative emotions and thoughts are part of living.   And since you’re a living human you will experience negativity and the desire or need to react to it. So go ahead, let your self.

One thing that is extremely helpful is meditation.

Here is a great website all about meditation with free downloadable mp3’s!!

http://www.meditationoasis.com/

This is good for beginners so if you don’t know much about it you can learn and they also have advanced meditation mp3’s for people who are already acquainted or at ease with it.

I took a meditation course in college where I practiced and learned all about it. The one I’m interested in is mindfulness meditation.   They have so many mp3’s. Ones to help you with gratitude, anger, pain, deep rest, pregnancy, creativity, and so many, many more.

Also check this other meditation page out about mindfulness: https://livingmindfully.org/

When I meditate my whole body feels rested and I feel rested mentally as well.

It’s an amazing experience that cannot really be explained in words, it must be practiced. It’s good to meditate regularly.   I used to morning and then again at night but began slacking! But I intend to begin again!

P.s. Since my new phone is so perfectly compatible with the mobile wordpress app and it allows multiple photos in the same entry, you will be seeing many, many more pictures that Itake as long as you keep checking out my blog! Yay! It’s a dream come true! 😀

Blogger Award

I have been wanting to post this so badly.

But I had work so frequently and could not get around to it! I feel so accomplished now! Lol ;-D As I have posted on here before I am so honored and flattered to have been nominated for this award: http://etsuchan.files.wordpress.com/2013/05/untitled.png By Etsuchan at: http://etsuchan.wordpress.com/ I am thrilled that she finds my blog worthy of this lovely award!!! Like I have stated previously, she is beautiful, talented, and I love her beautiful blog! Please, go check it out!!! Now it is my job to nominate some of my favorite blogs for this award! I love a lot of blogs on here and I was attempting to list fifteen. I have more that I really love too. I don’t have access right now to a computer and I’m using my mobile phone which is great!! But cannot do everything. I was looking through my reader on here and copying links to paste of some blogs that I want to nominate but the links I copied showed up wrong so I had to look up all the following blogs on Google to get the working link! So here is a list of some of the best blogs I know other than http://etsuchan.wordpress.com/ These are in no specific order: http://greenhornphotos.com/ http://studentswithbirds.wordpress.com/ http://terry1954.wordpress.com/ http://lesleycarter.wordpress.com/ http://gyatoday.wordpress.com/ http://5kidswdisabilities.com/ http://urbanwallart.wordpress.com/ http://beapositivelight.wordpress.com/ http://everydaypowerblog.com/ http://thebettermanprojects.com/ http://chosenvoice.wordpress.com/ Please check all these amazing blogs out! And thank you so so much to http://etsuchan.wordpress.com/ Here’s the rules: 1.) Thank the person who gave you this award.  2.) Include a link to their blog. 3.) Select 15 blogs/bloggers that you’ve recently discovered or follow regularly. 4.) Nominate those 15 bloggers for the Versatile Blogger Award. http://versatilebloggeraward.wordpress.com/

Award & a little bit of venting

If you are offended by a little bit of cursing (not much though) and some venting please read no further. Lol. It’s not pretty! 😉

Ok so today I’m totally about to start ripping out my hair. I feel like throwing a fit seriously. This is nine or ten days straight now that I have been working with no day off. Not one. And there’s absolutely no sign of a day off soon. And in the spring and summer my job is DEMANDING! It’s an ice cream store and each shift only one person works and we get like 20 customers at the Window at once! All through out the day and night.  The place gets a mess and has to be cleaned and so I don’t get out of work when I’m supposed to. Tomorrow I’m working eleven f.u.c.k.i.n.g hours in a row.   No break. Literally. No break. And the reason the word f.u.c.k.i.n.g. Is written like that is my phone will not allow that word.   Yeah.

Everyone is on vacation or getting surgery or just being careless and won’t help me out so here I am working non stop. Alone.

And my new phone which is the blackberry z10 has no option to save pictures off the Internet.   Isn’t that lovely? There’s an app to save whole albums off Facebook but no single pics anywhere else online.

So if I want to put a picture somewhere that is online I have to copy the link and paste the link for people to click on to see it. Today I got up before work to use my dad’s computer and the computer decided to be a d.i.c.k. And my phone will not allow that word either. The computer would not let me upload the pic here.

Everything is not working out today and when I find a way around it then that plan won’t work either.   So im having a b.i.t.c.h.i.n.g fest here. Lol

My new phone is amazing though especially the camera.

I love my job and my customers.   I love working and am very thankful. It’s just that working every single day in a row for over one week and working 11 hour shifts with no break is definitely not my cup of tea and I will become a monster. And I will p.i.s.s. And moan.   But oh well that’s ok.

I know people have more demanding jobs than I have and people work more hours more often like doctors and medical students and that is amazing.   But let me tell you I am not cut out for that shizz!

So I’m about to step off my soapbox right about now!   😉

And just so you know I’m definitely not taking my stress out on people. I’m still friendly and kind. I don’t take stuff out on undeserving people and usually not even deserving ones. I’m not like that.
I’m just venting right here.

I know this blog entry is completely different than what my blog is all about. My blog is about inspiration and gratitude and joy and happiness.   I’m almost never this stressed and angry and even when I am I’m often still calm.  And right now I’m still happy and grateful underneath it. But I really want to vent! I do NOT plan on making a habit of this on here! I promise. 🙂

In fact, today I have one or more happy entries planned for today if I get the chance to post them. I’m at work and if it gets super busy again I may not be able to. I get out at 10 : 00pm tonight.   And have to get right back up again in the morning to start the work day all over again til 10 : 00pm then again Monday.   Now can you see why I’m p.i.s.s.e.d all the way off?! Lol

My phone amuses me! The auto correct is hilarious but has the potential to be embarrassing!

So yeah it’s ok and healthy and necessary to vent every now and then!

Etsuchan at:

http://etsuchan.wordpress.com/

Was kind enough to nominate my blog for the “Soul on Fire” award!! I am so so flattered!!!!! Now it’s my job to nominate 15 more blogs! Blogs that I think are amazing and worthy of the award! So my very next post, hopefully that will be today, will be a list of my fifteen favorite blogs other than http://etsuchan.wordpress.com/

I will list the links to them! Please go check out http://etsuchan.wordpress.com/

She is amazing and beautiful! Very talented and kind.

And please excuse the venting and cursing above!   Lol like I said I promise I’m usually NOT that bitter!   But they got me overworked!

I am so thankful for my new phone and the WordPress app for BlackBerry.   The app works amazingly well on this version of black berry unlike my last phone.   This phone has some drawbacks and negative qualities about it but the truth is I can’t complain.   It’s a fantastic product.

Go visit this lovely blog!

Short little list of Happy :-D

Here’s my short little list of happu for today! 😀

1n) I wrote that I recently got a new puppy! I love watching him grow everyday and learn new things.   He recently learned how to walk up & down the stairs. He was soo happy when he first walked up! He came running so fast into my room and was so proud of himself!   How adorable!
He quickly learned that every night after work I bring home treats for them and now he waits for his very impatiently! Lol.

image

He dances real fast until he gets his. His has to be broken into small pieces because he’s so little.   My pit bull Isis Summerjo & him are inseparable! They do everything together and Isis is a jealous girl! She copies everything he does and now she chews paper towels because he does! Lol it’s the cutest thing!

2.) At work recently, three little girls came with their dad to buy water ice and the girls brought me a flower just because they felt like it! They were so happy and so was I! It had a beautiful fragrance and was so pretty.

3.) A lady who works for my boss brought me chocolate covered strawberries as a surprise gift just to be kind.

4.) Philosophy and the way the human body works. I was laying in bed today with my pit bull and I was falling asleep. I wanted to move my arm but was too tired.   And I got to thinking about how amazing it is that if I want to move part of my body, I can! It may seem like a simple or mundane concept or event but it truly is a wonder! Just think about it!

5n) I am going to turn 27 years old tomorrow!   Yay! My sister has surprises planned for me for after work and she won’t tell me what! 😀

I hope you all are having a wonderful day/night.
