I don’t wanna go on with you like that 💛

No one is going to dull my sparkle! Still shining ✨️ 💛

But I don’t wana go on with you like that
It gets so hard sometimes to understand
This vicious circle’s getting out of hand
Don’t need an extra eye to see
That the fire spreads faster in a breeze 🖤

I Don’t Wanna Go On With You Like That- Elton John 🖤

This is the version of this post that I’ll probably share on Facebook. I have a much longer version for this blog. But, for now, I will share this shorter version (still super long).

I shared this on here before, but I later removed the post out of concern that certain people may see it. I think the post is called “I don’t wanna go on with you like that.” Elton John! It’s back in my drafts, and I considered publishing it again. But, I’ll share this instead and name it after the original. Lol

When I posted it last year, I was in a darker place. I had no idea what to do. This year, I’m in a much better and productive headspace. Back then, I was depressed.

Also, there was something slightly identifying in some of my screenshots. Someone would have to do some serious sleuthing to do anything with it, but still. Lol

I don’t want anyone to be able to contact my “family” who this is about.

I have been carrying something heavy that no one knows.

Multiple occasions, I tried to share this and just couldn’t bring myself. But I can’t keep it inside anymore.

I finally asked for help and feel a weight has been lifted off of my whole body. I did not even realize how heavy it was until it lifted.

I am so happy and light, it’s just amazing. I knew to an extent how much suffering alone was affecting me, but not just how much until I finally reached out for help.

I haven’t even received help yet and already feel a sense of being empowered, just at the prospect. And I did have the opportunity to share my experience with a professional person before I visit in person.

My appointment is later this month.

There was a point, just a year ago, where I felt this situation was not compatible with life. And, if you read this, you’ll understand why.

I want my side out there. I want my voice heard.

I feared that if I shared this, people may see it as a reflection of me, like if someone is doing this to me there must be a reason for it. Like maybe I deserve it. Because who would do this to someone for literally no reason? It’s not uncommon for people to think if we are the target of abuse or assault, we did something to “deserve” it. But that’s not the case. No one deserves this.

I am being badly abused. Every day. It has been going on for years. There are almost no breaks.

I live with severe domestic violence, and no one knows it but me.

Last year, it reached the point where I can no longer cope. I can’t go it alone anymore. I called the National Domestic abuse hotline last Summer, and it was AI. Not a person. And it wouldn’t help me because I’m not abused by a romantic partner. As if that’s the only abuse that’s valid.

It was extremely disheartening to call for help and not only not be greeted by another human but told by a robot that my experience is not valid. And it told me it would send me a link to resources where I can get help. I clicked the link, and it was a link to their own website with the same number I contacted and was told my experience isn’t valid. What a joke.

I considered calling the suicide hotline, but I feared I would be locked away if they traced my call and tracked my location. I was involuntarily hospitalized years ago for being suicidal. They physically restrained me, took me to Court, and locked me away for weeks against my consent. So, I decided not to call, and continued to suffer alone. Also, my problem wasn’t being suicidal, it was being abused. I wanted help with the origins of the problem, not the side effect of it. I eventually came to handle it better in my mind. But the situation is still toxic.

Life did not used to be like this for me. And I miss when it wasn’t. I miss having a normal life at home. There were always toxic issues. But nothing to this extent.

The worst of it has been going on the last two years. Before that, it was manageable and mostly able to be ignored. I had a happy childhood, full of vacations & camping trips and movies and playgrounds and ice cream and toys. My dad made childhood fun. And my mom took care of me and was, overall, a loving mom (unless she was angry). This is something that escalated through the years.

My mom & sister are violent domestic abusers.

They should be on a list.

I don’t wish negative things on them, but my sister plans to get married in the future and have kids. And every good man (and even potential platonic friends) should be warned. She’s out there.

And she accuses pretty much everyone of rape, even admitted it wasn’t true in some cases. I am sorry for whatever poor bastard gets involved with her. Have fun being falsely accused of rape. Lol

She lied and told my mom she caught me watching rape movies and getting off on it in my bedroom. My mom called me a “sick fuck.” She also posted this on Facebook, said I was getting off on women screaming “Stop” and “No.”

One day, she was awake in her bedroom. I heard her. I was in my bed, watching Pippi Longstocking. And my sister ran down the steps, screaming to my mom that I woke her up blasting a rape movie and traumatized her. My mom was furious and cursing at me.

I realized that after my dad moved out a couple years ago, what he was displaying all these years was mostly reactive abuse. It was a response to my mom’s years long verbal absue of him. He became a monster (mostly to my mom), and I thought it was all him. I forgot through the years what she did to him first, because his reaction to her became so extreme that it overshadowed what she was doing all along, to both of us.

I never knew reactive abuse is a thing until he moved out and I saw what she began doing worse to me, and I began to have the same reactions as he did, after a while, except in my case, they aren’t anywhere near as toxic. When I say something to her about her being wrong, she says “That’s what he always said, you’re just like him, you’re both narcissistic assholes!” Or something of that sort. It hit me that that’s why he was reacting that way all along. Then, coincidentally, not long later, I saw a post about reactive abuse on social media. I get it now. He eventually put her in her place and kept her there. It was the only way to stop her. Then, he looked like the monster.

When he moved out years ago, for five years, she was way worse with me then, too, and I always wondered why for those five years, she was worse with me, instead of happy to be rid of him. Now, I understand, the source of it all was her, and when he moved out, I became the target. Everything he said through the years is now happening worse to me. It always did, just worse now.

He is a toxic person, and much of what he did wasn’t justified. But as soon as he moved out two years ago, she moved right onto me, and I find myself having all the same thoughts he used to say “She comes at me and at me and at me,”

“She twists my words around to make me look bad and then argues with me,” “I’m like a lion in a cage, she just pokes me and pokes me and pokes me until I react and then I’m the bad guy,” “She constantly criticizes me for no reason.” “She constantly makes me do all her shopping.” “She has anger issues.” “She always has negative body language/tone with me for no reason.” “She’s always laughing at me.” (She always accused him of trying to control her movements and expressions and tones, and I thought he was being seriously abusive to her, but since he moved out, and she got worse with me, I see now. He was doing that because she was constantly hostile with him, just like with me. I do the same thing now. I’ll say one simple thing that is valid or reasonable, and she’ll roll her eyes or look at me like I’m disgusting. This takes a toll after a while to where you just get angry about how they’re looking at you and how the animosity seeps through their body language. )

This has been going on much longer than two years, my mom was toxic her whole life, but the worst of it was in the last couple of years. And in these last years, I began to see the whole picture more clearly.

My mom is full of rage & hate. For life itself. And it’s all unleashed onto me because I’m an easy target. The rage radiates off of her. It’s palpable. She screams and yells and curses and stomps around the house day & night, day after day, ranting & raving & raging. She throws things, crumples things up in her hands out of anger, stomps her feet, throws stuff to the floor and stomps it, making these primitive gutteral sounds of fury.

My mom cannot handle anything that is not even remotely criticism. She does Olympic medal level mental gymnastics to reach the conclusion that something is criticism against her. And then she goes off about it. And any mistake she makes is someone else’s fault, usually mine. She forgets where she set her glasses down, and it’s my fault for talking and not paying attention to where she set them. She drops a bag a cashier is handing her, after it’s already in her hand, and it’s the cashier’s fault. One day, that happened, and glass in the bag broke.

She said it was the cashier’s fault for how she handed the bag to my mom (she literally just reached out for her to take it). Then, when we got home and I was upstairs, I heard my mom downstairs telling my sister that the cashier dropped the bag and broke the glass thing my mom bought. She can take no responsibility.

Oh. And she’s a racist, too 🙃

She calls black people N***ers. (I have multiple screenshots), but only to my sister and me. No one else knows she’s a racist. She says women, even married women, who don’t want to become pregnant should “keep their legs closed, the filthy w.hores.”

The blue is my message to my mom. The grey is my mom’s message to me. The word is highlighted because I looked through old messages to find this. She’s been a racist her whole life. I used to call her out on it, but I stopped giving her the satisfaction, and just ignore it now. She liked getting a rise out of me. This message alone should be enough to confirm that my mom is as vile as I say she is. Her and my sister claim that I lie about her, that she’s such a great person and such a great mom. Welp! I’ll just leave this gem right here and let you decide for yourself lol There’s more like this, and ones of her saying women should keep their legs closed if they don’t want to get pregnant. She also called me a d*ke more than once and has referred to a few gay women that way, again, not to their faces, of course. So, yeah.

If you saw her outside, you would never know it. She’s softspoken and sweet and mild mannered-seeming. She says thank you and giggles this fake, sweet, innocent giggle and has people thinking she’s the sweetest little lady.  (She has become so angry, though, that she’s beginning to show it to others, like cashiers she gets angry at).

But within the walls of our house, she’s violent, oppressive, cruel. She screams at the dogs, says the most vicious insults about me. Says our little dog should be put down when she’s mad at him for snapping at our other dog (she’s only saying that out of anger, she wouldn’t really). She is the most vile, putrid woman you could ever meet. Not to quote Donald Trump, but “Nasty woman.” Lol

One of my cousins stopped talking to my mom because my mom lashed out at her with an abusive text message when my cousin did not talk to her that way. My mom is abusive when angry.

None of this is new, it’s just so much more extreme now, that she’s almost unrecognizable compared to what she used to be.

On my 40th b-day, my mom told me that “40 doesn’t suit you” and called me a miserable bitch as soon as I woke up. I actually wasn’t, I woke up happy and got to see my friend for breakfast. I got a free Starbucks coffee. I went for a walk in the breezy weather. I laid in bed with my dogs. But I was a “miserable bitch” and a “horrible bitch.”

She argued with me over money as soon as I woke up and argued with me about doing all her shopping. Her and my sister refused to work their whole life and depended on my dad’s and my pay to support them and then argue that I don’t bring home enough money. They do almost no house work and won’t do their own food shopping or run any of their own errands. And when I say I’m tired of it, and they have to start doing something, I’m a “horrible bitch” and an “abuser.”

My mom always tries to ruin special days and events for me. I thought it was my dad all these years. But I see after he moved out, it still happens and worse. And I remember now what she always did before he got worse.

She tried to ruin my 40th b-day. She yelled and cursed at me and slung insults. For no reason. She always finds some excuse. But I decided not to give her the power anymore. And now, I’ll have someone helping me.

I asked her to take a picture of me in my 40th b-day sash that I bought myself. It’s hard to get a full body picture, myself. And she was passive-aggressive about it. What “mother” acts like this? She seriously couldn’t take a simple picture for me, for a special occasion?

Many moms would go all out for their daughter’s special day, and would be more than happy to do something to bring them simple joy. She did absolutely nothing for me, just argued with me the second I woke up, said passive-aggressive remarks, and mumbled “happy birthday,” as if she could hardly even pretend to care.

When it’s my sister’s birthday, she’s pampered with expensive flowers, a “birthday girl” ribbon, a balloon, whatever expensive cake she wants, a bunch of gifts, stuffed animals, money, whatever she wants to order online…. Whenever it’s mine, I’m told to get my own cake or whatever they feel like throwing at me, and my sister gets me a few gifts, just out of sense of obligation. My mom couldn’t care less.

My sister at least pretends to care with the bare minimum. She did argue with me, too, though. I went out for a walk, and the very second I walked in the door, they both came at me, arguing, my mom almost yelling, calling me insults. My sister did not tell me Happy Birthday and then used the excuse that I started an argument, when it was really her & my mom who did.

They tried to ruin it for me, but I wasn’t going to let them. I had a great day. I couldn’t completely ignore them, but I engaged as little as possible and told myself to consider the source. They are vile, miserable people. And misery loves company. I wasn’t going to be its company.

Not going to keep me down ❤️

One of them (sure it’s my sister) takes and breaks my stuff when I’m out, pours my perfume in my bed. I bought myself a cute Plushie/stuffed animal, months ago, and I came home to find its throat slashed one day. And of course, neither one of them know what happened to it.

They deny that they are abusers, and they claim that I am the abuser. I have screenshots to back up some of what I say. Not the worst of it, but enough evidence. They have NOTHING on me. Just the lies they constantly tell. They use the fact that both of them agree and it’s two against one, to “confirm” I’m the problem.

And what’s funny is, my sister frequently shares memes that say, “I hope your abuser dies today.” 🤣😂

If I could, I would ghost them both so hard, for the rest of this life. But, unfortunately, that’s not an option at the moment.

I found a therapist who is just beginning to get back into work. She put her career on hold to have kids. Now that they’re older, she’s back to work.

She’s going to be leaving the center soon, she’s an intern, completing her degree now.

So I won’t be her longterm client, which is actually good. I don’t feel I need longterm therapy. I can just use a few sessions to learn some coping techniques and get my voice heard.

She’s a mom and specializing in relationships, so I feel that she’ll be a good fit. As a mom herself, she’ll automatically see that what I experience with my own mom, is not normal. She may understand it in a firsthand way almost, because she knows what normal and healthy relationship she has with her own kids, and she has professional experience as well. It would be good if she has basic knowledge of cults/mind control & sociopathic tendencies. Because I believe that’s what’s going on here.

She sent me a form and asked me to explain my situation in-depth.

I’m so thankful for the chance to send it in writing first because I am much better in writing than talking.

So, it will already be on record for her to get much of the whole picture.

It’s kind of long, but I’m going to share here. I’ll copy & paste what I sent my therapist. They wanted as much details as possible, and I am thankful for that because I’m very detail oriented.

Here is exactly what I sent my (temporary) therapist (I censored my sister’s name so that no one can potentially find her and tell her any of this. I would probably be m.ur.dered, and they would probably say it was one of the dolls):

I live with my mom and sister, and they have frequent and unprovoked/easily provoked blowups/outbursts directed at me. They curse at me and argue with me and find problems with me, almost regularly, for the most trivial things or things that aren’t even wrong. It’s constant, unnecessary criticism.

And when I tell them it’s unnecessary, they call me a “narcissist” who can’t handle criticism, even though I say it’s frequent, unnecessary & disproportionate criticism that is the problem, not criticism that really is warranted. Everyone needs criticism, occasionally, but this is constant and unnecessary.

They sling vicious insults at me. I’m called things like a “piece of shit” and a “stupid fuck” and “trash,” and “a freak,” just for accidentally knocking something over or forgetting to do something, or even for things they accuse me of that aren’t true. My mom has called me scum before and other abusive insults just for spilling something, or for things my sister lied about. I never talk this way to them.

Any mistake I make or a perceived mistake by them, they attack my whole character or personality, instead of seeing it as just a mistake anyone can make. Anything I do that they don’t like, even if it’s not wrong or nothing that bad, I’m automatically a terrible person. They call me “shit for a person,” simply for being later than I said I would be for something, and any other petty mistakes.

My mom tells me my hobbies and interests are ridiculous and tells me anything I think or feel is ridiculous. Anything I say about myself, she denies it. If I say I always do something, she tells me I never do. If I say I’m working late, she accuses me of lying and being out just for fun.

If I say I’m good at something, she tells me I’m not. If there’s something I like about myself, she tries to tear it down. If I have an insecurity about something, she tries to fuel it.

She tells me my job is nothing and that it’s a job any lazy person can do and that it’s not even work. She tells me I did nothing with my life, just as an insult. When she tells me I did nothing with my life and I tell her I work, she automatically accuses me of being arrogant and trying to “rub it in” that her and my sister don’t have a job. When my point was just to say I do actually do something with my life, because she says I don’t. They take everything I actually say and intentionally misinterpret it or put an absurd spin on it, to make me look ridiculous or wrong.

My mom tells me no one likes me, and when I mention people who like me, she says it’s only because I’m fake and that if I showed them my real self, they wouldn’t like me.

When I say it’s wrong to talk to me this way, my sister & mom call me a narcissist or too touchy or tell me I deserve to be talked to that way. When I say I don’t do any of this toxic stuff to them, that they do to me, my mom says things like “Well good for you, do you want a medal or a cookie?” When my point was that it shouldn’t happen to me. I cannot reason with either of them because I only get mocked or lashed out at or told it never happened. My mom mimics my voice when I tell her what she does is wrong. She’ll say exactly what I say and use a baby voice, to mock me. She’s 64 years old.

They often deny any of it happened. They do things in front of my face, like throw something, then literally a second later, say it never happened and that I’m either a liar or crazy and imagining it. It’s impossible to address anything they do because they just deny it ever happened.

The lying with them is extreme. It’s abnormal lying. It’s lying that has no “rules” anymore. People usually lie only when the other person did not actually see/hear it and can’t know for certain. Even lying has “rules” or a reasonable aspect to it. But their lying is beyond typical lying.

They do and say stuff directly in front of or to me and then claim it never happened. I don’t have this problem anywhere else, with anyone else. I have a job and a volunteer job and a couple friends I meet up with, and no one else tells me I’m crazy and imagining things or lying or mis-remembering.

Most of this happens in person, but sometimes I have screenshots to prove something they tell me I’m crazy or lying about, to show that I’m right and not “crazy,” and then they call me a “freak” for having screenshots or saving messages. But it’s impossible to work out a problem when someone denies that it ever happened.

There’s like no reference point to work on anything because according to them, it doesn’t exist. Even if they admitted something but defended themselves on it, I can at least try to work with that and come to a solution or something. But when they deny it ever happens, there’s no conversation to take place. And that’s just it, I have to drop it.

They manipulate and control me. They threaten to break or throw away my stuff when I’m at work, and they threaten to throw me out if I don’t do favors for them. They make me go get their food & snacks every single day and run all their errands, and if I have to work late or say I’m going out and can’t do their shopping, they tell me I’m “withholding” and “starving” them, even though they are able-bodied, mentally competent adults, who have full access to my bank account & venmo account. I don’t drive, and they make me carry so much stuff home in bags for them, almost every day.

They make me bring bottles of soda and food and anything else they want. When I say it’s injuring my back and neck, they call me a liar and selfish and say I just don’t want to help them. We live very close to the stores, but they won’t leave the house to get their own stuff. Some mornings, my mom makes me go to a store for her and then more stores for her and my sister later in the evening. If I don’t, I have consequences.

If I refuse to do excessive things they ask me, I get insults and cursed at, or find my perfume poured into my bed or my stuff broken or missing, or my phone chargers cut. They both deny it was them and tell me I’m just losing my mind or that a ghost must have done it.

Or they tell me that maybe one of their dolls took it or broke it because I made the doll angry (They’re doll collectors, and they believe the dolls are haunted & conscious). No one else is in our house. I’m certain it’s my sister doing this.

Every single thing I tell them is toxic about them, they say it’s really true about me. I generally have to stay silent to avoid worse problems with them. But they always find an excuse for an argument or blowup, and it’s always them together against me.

My mom intentionally tries to provoke me to get a reaction, and when she finally gets a reaction, she calls me a narcissist who is harassing her, or calls me crazy. She starts arguments with me as I’m walking out the door or before important events. I used to think it was a coincidence, that something always happened to fall into her lap right then, then I realized it’s intentional, so that I have to walk out shaken up and wondering if it will continue when I get home.

My dad used to say he was like a “lion in a cage,” that my mom would “poke and poke and poke” until he reacted and then he was the “bad guy,” and now she does that to me since he moved out. She used to laugh at him and mock him and say “Oh yeah, you’re a lion,” about his analogy. And she does the exact same to me when I try to explain what she’s doing.

My mom & sister start arguments with me at night, so I have to go to bed shaken and stressed. But it’s all one-sided arguments because I’m not allowed to say my side. If I ever speak up, they scream at me or tell me to shut up, or they talk over me.

Anything that goes wrong, my mom takes it out on me, even when it’s nothing to do with me. If it’s not explicit insults, it’s passive aggressive remarks, and just hostile body language and facial expressions and a cold tone. When I tell her that she’s just always negative with me, that her body language and expressions and tone are antagonistic and cold for no reason, she tells me I’m trying to control how she is.

When she says vicious insults about me and I say it’s wrong, she tells me that’s how she talks and that I’m trying to change who she is and control her, instead of acknowledging that it’s toxic to me.

My mom & sister are severely verbally/emotionally abusive, and they refuse to listen to how it affects me. They tell me I’m exaggerating or lying or that I deserve it and make them do that. Or they laugh at and mock me and say I’m “too touchy.” I tell them what they’re doing is abuse, and they laugh together and say things like “Poor Kim, you’re a poor little abuse victim.”

It’s frequent middle-school-style bullying.

Then, they use my reaction to their abuse against me, to “confirm” that I’m the true problem. They say whatever they want to me or about me, and then they won’t let me talk or say my side. I have to take everything they throw at me and be silent, or they accuse me of harassment.

I’m looking for ways to cope with that and be less affected by it, because at the moment, none of us can change our living situation. The toxic family situation is not new, but through the years, it worsens to where it’s hard to live with sometimes.

My sister is very unhealthy, emotionally. She was since she was a child. She’s almost 30 years old. She has the intellectual ability of someone her age, but she throws fits like a toddler when she doesn’t get her way. She uses her health conditions as a form of manipulation.

She was manipulative since she was a child in ways no kid would even know how to be.

Since childhood, she threatened to kill herself or run away or take drugs or tell vicious lies about us if we did not do what she wanted, like take her to a playground or buy her things she demanded. My mom never got her help. She was a child, threatening suicide, and my mom let it slide. She would tell her not to tell my dad. And when my dad did find out, they wouldn’t let him get her help.

My sister has always threatened me. She’s 10+ years younger than me but tried to control me her whole life. She would threaten to lie to my boss and say I was stealing off the company or stealing off clients, unless I did what she wanted. She threatened to call my therapist back then and lie and say I was “going off.”

She threatened to lie and say my dad sexually abused her, when she got angry at him. She threatened to tell my friends I said things about them that I never said. She threatened to lie and tell people I abused her. She recently threatened that she’s going to “make my life hell.” When I tell her what she does is wrong, she breaks down and sobs hysterically and calls me an abuser, and my mom yells at me and agrees with her.

She did this since childhood. She controlled my mom, dad, and me. But, especially my mom. My dad is also very toxic and was less easy to control, so she mostly kept it to just my mom and me. I stopped falling for it, and now, my sister has resentment for me for not doing everything she wants.

She threatens to lie and tell people I abuse her and that I’m a narcissist. She posts this stuff publicly on Facebook, and I ignore it. She knows she can do this with no consequences. But just once, I shared a meme about verbal abusers on Facebook and said I have family like this. I did not name anyone.

My mom & sister saw it and knew it was about them, and they had a blowup on me for talking about them on Facebook, even though I never said it was them. I still don’t hear the end of it. But my sister lies frequently about me on Facebook, where I can see it. I can’t share my side, or I’ll have to suffer the consequences. But my sister knows there’s no consequences for saying anything to or about me.

It got worse the older she got. I had surgery a couple years ago, for example, and my sister wanted my oxy pills. She doesn’t have a drug problem, she claimed she had a headache. I said no, and she had a breakdown and was yelling and cursing at me and said she would kill herself if I did not give her the pills. She told me it would be my fault if she kills herself.

My mom began screaming and cursing at me, along with her, and told me my sister is going to kill herself if I don’t give her my pills, and that it will be my fault if she does.

They were yelling vicious insults about me. Finally, to stop the yelling and cursing and insults and threats, I gave her my pills. Instantly, as if a switch was flipped, they calmed down and were laughing together and talking to me, like nothing happened. I was still angry and anxious and stressed, while they were already over it, like nothing. It wasn’t normal.

Emotions don’t just change in a second, especially intense emotions. She was threatening to die by suicide, and two seconds later, after she got her way, they’re both there laughing and talking and having a light-hearted conversation. They tell me that the fact that I’m still angry about something later, even mere minutes later, is me “not dropping things” and me “dragging something on” and “harassing” them. I never get to say my side or explain or defend myself.

This is just one example of what happens almost regularly in my house.

My sister demands us to come out of the bathroom when she wants to get in there and says it’s our fault if she gets a uti if we don’t come out. If I’m in a shower and don’t come right out, they both scream at me and call me a “psychopath” who wants my sister to get a uti. My mom literally jumps off the toilet when my sister bangs on the door and demands it. My sister is only doing this to control and get what she wants, when she wants it.

She uses the excuse that she has stomach issues or gets utis and has special needs that she should get in the bathroom right when she needs it. That could be a valid situation in some cases, but with my sister, it’s all about control & entitlement. It’s a pattern.

My dad is also a toxic person, but not as toxic to me as they are. Him and my mom never got along. She has a lot of pent up anger because of him. He moved out around two years ago, and as soon as he moved out, my mom’s verbal abuse got worse with me. It’s like she moved onto me once he was gone. I’m an easy target for her anger.

When my mom is angry, she becomes vicious and cruel in ways she isn’t when she’s not angry. Through the years, she has become frequently angry, so she’s frequently vicious now.

It began as me being an easy target, and then took on a life of its own. It’s like I’m her punching bag now. It’s as if she has an at-home gym where she goes to blow off steam whenever she feels like, and goes wild on a punching bag, and I’m that human punching bag. And there’s nothing I can do to stop it. When I try, it only makes it worse.

Everyday, she comes at me as much as she can. I’m often not home, but it’s when I am home. It’s in the mornings as I’m leaving for work, and at night when I get home. I mostly stopped texting her during the days because it was happening in messages.

She could never do this to my sister or dad because they would do worse back to her. I don’t. So, she learned that she can unleash it all onto me, with no consequences to herself.

I had a therapist years ago who said, by what I described, my mom displays displaced & disproportionate anger. She suggested I talked to my mom about it, but my mom wouldn’t accept she can do anything wrong. My mom becomes furious when she’s told she’s wrong. She’s still like that now. When I told her what my therapist said, she said she doesn’t care what “some quack” thinks of her. Now, she’s much worse than back then.

My mom is also abusive in more subtle ways that, on the surface, or in isolated cases, my not seem that bad, but all adds up. She’s regularly passive-aggressive, in just mundane interactions. Most interactions with her, even in messages, leave me drained or anxious or in turmoil, even if I can’t pinpoint exactly why. After paying closer attention, I realized she does subtle things on purpose to get at me.

My sister dropped out of school on the first day of 9th grade, and my mom never homeschooled her. My mom always took care of our basic physical needs and bought us anything we wanted, but when I got to be an adult, I realized my mom was very neglectful in other ways, particularly with my sister.

I had some basic rules, growing up. But my sister did not. I don’t have kids, but I understand that kids need guidelines or rules, and they have to have some kind of age-appropriate accountability when they break them.

My mom never set rules or boundaries or encouraged my sister to work at having a future in terms of money or work. My sister had no bedtime growing up, nothing was off limits. She was allowed to watch and eat anything she wanted, whenever she wanted. She refused to go to elementary school unless my mom did volunteer work there. My mom volunteered there til my sister graduated. My sister went to middle school, and then never went to high school.

When my sister did wrong, she either wasn’t told or was told about it and would have meltdowns and then was told it was ok after that, that she wasn’t wrong, just to calm her down.

My dad was around, but he never had a say in anything back then. My mom had the final say, and her philosophy was that my sister could do what she wanted, when she wanted, with no consequences.

And now the consequences of that are severe, as an adult. My sister is beyond entitled. She doesn’t function like an adult, even though cognitively or intellectually, she is adult age. Emotionally, she’s like three years old.

My sister never got a GED. She has an 8th grade education. My mom has no problem with that, but she does have a problem with my low pay and my job she calls “shitty” and “nothing.”

My mom never had any true problems with me. I was a very easy kid, I never gave her problems as a teenager or young adult. I went to school and work. I contribute, financially. She has no reason to have the resentment for me that she does. It’s all because I’m an easy target. And it’s regularly and intentionally fueled by my sister. My mom is like my sister’s puppet. My sister tries to control me through my mom.

My mom hasn’t worked in 40 years. She chose not to.

They both refuse to work or even get government assistance because they don’t want to leave the house. They depend on my pay and some of my dad’s social security money he gives us to help out. And they say it’s my fault we don’t have enough money because I did “nothing” with my life and have a “shitty job.”

They almost never leave the house, and they refuse to socialize with anyone. My mom wasn’t always that way, she had friends. But my sister isolated her, through the years. I used to think it was my dad isolating my mom, but I realized it’s my sister. My sister wants my mom only to herself.

They have no life outside of each other and no opinions or personality outside of each other. They disagree on nothing, and anything I tell my mom, she tells my sister, even if I ask her not to. My mom refuses to text me unless it’s in a group chat with my sister. But they have their own chat without me.

My sister has to oversee every single message my mom and me send to each other. She’s that controlling of my mom.

If my mom even hints at disagreeing with my sister on anything at all, or won’t do something she wants, my sister will scream and threaten all night long.

It’s an extreme pathological bond. It’s not normal for anyone, not even a romantic couple. They don’t exist without each other. It’s like they’re the same person.

My sister won’t go to any of her doctor or dentist appointments without my mom. At almost 30 years old.

They also share the same delusions with no basis. For example, they are both convinced that a friend I had in college, years ago, a young woman, was going to kidnap me and sell me into human trafficking. There is literally no basis for this. She was Brazilian, so they came up with this racist delusion.

They also held other strange delusions, through the years, including that my sister’s doctors were conspiring against them, doctors who did not even know each other. These are things that no reasonable person would believe. And somehow, both of them happen to believe the delusion.

This may just be a hobby, I’m not sure if this is pathological or just a different belief system/interest, but they share a doll collection, and they both truly believe the dolls walk around when no one can see and that the dolls communicate with them and tell them things.

They use crystals and pendulums and “magic” wands. But they both literally believe all this and that the dolls are telling them the same thing. They believe the dolls get angry at me on their behalf. They don’t have any separate beliefs. They don’t question or doubt each other, ever. And the source of it is my sister. If my sister said she saw a real zombie in her bedroom, my mom would believe it.

They’re like a two-person cult. It’s triggered by my sister. I realized recently that the root of all this is my sister. I had a therapist years ago, before my sister and mom were this bad, who said what I was describing about them is “emotional incest,” but it’s much worse than that. It’s brainwashing. It’s legit brainwashing, not something said as an insult or loosely. My sister brainwashed my mom.

My therapist years ago thought my mom was the one coercing my sister into it. But it was my sister all along. Back then, I did not understand the situation or the underlying phenomenon.

As a teenager & younger adult, my sister & mom would have shouting matches, regularly, every single night. My sister would have blowups every night about all of her problems, and would demand my mom to listen to her and try to fix her problems.

It was an every night thing that would last hours. It was our normal. It never involved me. It was my mom and sister, and then my dad would involve himself and make it even worse. My sister and dad would have blowups that would trigger each other’s. It was usually taken out on my mom.

Back then, my mom was not as vicious with me because she was getting her anger out on my sister. Eventually, the shouting matches got less & less. My mom would compliment her and buy her flowers and gifts and do constant favors for her, to keep her calm.

Then, the pathological bond began to develop to an extreme, and my mom’s anger was directed more at me. It got worse after my dad moved out, two years ago. The better my mom & sister get along, the worse my mom is with me.

For many years, I was confused about the source of this whole toxic family situation. I used to think the main culprit was my dad because his voice was the loudest and his toxic ways, most explicit. But when he moved out, it got even worse. I realized he was a problem, but not the main problem.

I began to consciously pay attention during interactions and see exactly what’s going on. And I thought back to all the issues through the years and realized my sister is the underlying problem. My mom has toxic traits of her own that I think are innate. She used to verbally abuse my dad before he became worse abusive to her as a result.
But my sister is the main instigator of the main problem here.

My mom used to have a personality outside of my sister, and we used to get along well enough. She was always toxic in some ways, but not this extreme. She used to say when my sister was wrong, and my mom had her own mind. My sister took over my mom’s whole person. My mom is not allowed to agree with me on anything, or my sister has outbursts and says we’re against her. Then, my mom will change her mind and agree with my sister.

This was not always the case to this extent, but there was always a hint of it. My mom always had to give into what my sister demanded, since she was a toddler. The difference is, my mom knew what was happening. She knew my sister was being controlling and wrong. She used to tell me all the things my sister did and how her life would be easier without my sister and that she felt like she had a toddler still.

She used to defend me against my sister and tell my sister she was wrong when my sister did something to me. Now, she supports everything my sister does to me. She goes along with her and encourages it.

Gradually, through the years, my mom stopped realizing what my sister is doing and is now devoted to my sister. It’s like Stockholm syndrome. She traumatized my mom into worshipping her and being devoted to her, unconditionally. My mom knows she gets rewarded the more affection and agreement she shows my sister and “punished” if she goes against her. But it’s not conscious anymore.

She literally says my sister can do no wrong. And if I say my sister did something wrong, my mom yells and curses at me, and yells “Don’t you dare say anything bad about her, you fucking bitch, she does nothing wrong!!” Or she just tells me to shut up and refuses to listen. Then, she goes back and tells my sister what I said about her. Then, my stuff goes missing or gets broken when I’m at work.

If my mom or me are using the microwave and my sister wants to use it, my sister wants us to stop using it and take our food out before it’s done so she can use it. My mom listens. My mom will stop the microwave and take her food or coffee out before it’s done, and lets my sister use the microwave. I don’t.

And I get called vicious insults for it and get lies told about me or accused of untrue things, like that I’m taking longer on purpose just to make my sister wait. Or my sister will say her depression was triggered because I wouldn’t let her use the microwave as soon as she wanted and that if she kills herself, it will be my fault. Then, she goes on Facebook and writes that I’m a monster and a domestic abuser. And I can’t defend myself or explain my side.

My sister makes my mom make her food if it’s something not microwaved, throws her trash around the floor and makes my mom pick it up. If she wants something, upstairs, my mom has to go up and get it for her and bring it down to her. My mom has to make all her doctor and dentist appointments. My mom has to wash my sister’s clothes.

And I have to pick up my sister’s prescriptions and do all her food shopping or any paperwork she needs done.

There is nothing wrong with my sister that she can’t do this. She’s just entitled. My sister does nothing but watch movies all day, while my mom and me do everything she needs. And she’s almost 30 years old. My mom sees nothing wrong with this anymore. She used to say my sister was running her ragged.

When I speak up about it now, after years of saying nothing about it, I’m told I’m abusing my sister and trying to make her feel low about her life and that I’m arrogant.

I used to think my sister was just spoiled and overly sensitive. Now, I understand it’s way worse than that. She’s manipulative & abusive. I’m not qualified to diagnose, but I think she has sociopathic tendencies. I even saw her seriously injure herself before, without her knowing I saw, just so she can tell my mom I left my scissors out and she “fell” onto them, simply so my mom would be angry at me.

She stabbed herself deeply in the leg. She went running and screaming to my mom that I carelessly left my scissors out and that she fell onto them. My mom came yelling and cursing at me and calling me insults. She wouldn’t believe that I saw my sister stab herself with something she already had with her, not my scissors. My mom called me a liar. She automatically believed my sister.

And there is no physical or logical way those scissors would have been able to even scratch her. I set them up how they were and lightly touched them with my fingertip, and they fell back. They could never have deeply cut anyone.

My sister wants me to have a toxic relationship with our mom and her and my mom have a perfect one. She will lie about me right in front of me to my mom. And my mom will believe her. She’ll tell my mom I said an insult about her or that I knocked something over, when it never happened. And my mom will yell and curse at me or say something vicious about me.

And when my mom turns around and can’t see, my sister will smirk at me, to let me know she got something over on me. My sister and me both know what’s going on, but my mom won’t see it. My sister is consciously controlling and enslaving her and using her against me.

My sister lies frequently about me to my mom, just to have my mom angry at me or defending my sister against me.

And my sister will thank her for defending her against me. She says “Thank you, Mommy, I love you Mommy.” And will secretly smirk at me. And my mom responds “You’re welcome, sweetie, I love you too, sweetie,” both in extremely sweet, fake voices.

My sister makes herself child-like, but it’s completely fake. She knows what she’s doing, my mom doesn’t anymore. But I think on some level, she does still know.

She spends money excessively, and my mom allows it. She used to not let my sister spend too much, but my sister would blow up on her & threaten until she got her way. She would accuse my mom of intentionally triggering her depression or eating disorder. Now, she does that to me. My mom began to just allow anything my sister wants.

My sister would be excessively sweet to my mom, intentionally, to get a positive reaction. My mom used to recognize what was happening and doesn’t anymore. When I try explaining, she either gets furious, or laughs at me, depending upon her mood. But she always denies it.

Eventually, my mom stopped resisting and dedicates her life to my sister. She even talks to my sister in a fake, sweet tone, that’s forced. But, I don’t think she realizes anymore that she’s doing this. Rarely, she will tell my sister “no,” and my sister yells & sobs and threatens, like before, so my mom gives in. My sister always had blowups into the night, mostly directed at my mom, unless she got her way.

A few months ago, my sister demanded to spend $400 that we needed for bills & food. My mom, for once, said no. My sister screamed all night and threatened to kill herself, until my mom let her spend it. I said we need that for bills & food, and my mom & sister both began yelling & cursing at me and calling me a narcissistic abuser who just wanted to make my sister feel low about herself. Even though just minutes before that, my mom said the same thing to my sister.

My sister claims she has multiple identities/alters/personalities living in her body. I have never seen any real signs of this. And she says it’s my fault. She pretends to be a different personality when she doesn’t get her way or is told she’s wrong, and she loses track of what she’s even doing.

Her name is ****, and she’ll be pretending to be a different personality talking about herself, and she’ll say “I told you to stop doing this to me,” then she’ll correct herself and say “I mean,**** told you to stop doing this to her!”

Clearly, it’s fake, when she’s making mistakes like that. She’ll do or say something and then later tell me it was one of the “alters” and that she shouldn’t be accused because it wasn’t her fault if they did something wrong in her body.

I tried bringing all this up during arguments when everyone is angry. And I tried bringing it up later when everyone is calm.

I tried bringing the issue up in a calm manner, and I tried bringing it up in an angry, snippy tone. I tried putting it in writing, and talking about it in person. But no matter what, nothing gets through to them. No matter how or when I try to explain how toxic this all is, it doesn’t get through. They get defensive or mock me.

They tell me I’m just having “personal issues” or that my real problem is with something or someone else and that I’m just taking it out on them. Or they tell me I’m lying or exaggerating or that I deserve it. They tell me they do nothing at all wrong.

Recently, when I was leaving for work, I told my mom that my mental health is being affected and asked if we can go for a walk together later and talk about how what her and my sister does, affects me and how we can all work on it together, to stop it and make it better for all of us.

And her response was “I’m not going anywhere with you, we don’t do anything to you, get the hell out of here.” So, I had to just walk out for work with nothing solved.

There is no working through this with them or getting through to them. They are not normal or rational people, and they never will be, especially my sister. And as long as my sister has this hold on my mom, my mom will never, ever see it, or even try to understand.

So, I have to learn how to coexist with it and manage it in my own mind while it’s going on.

Last Summer, the effect on me was so severe that I developed a prominent twitching in my upper lip when I would be walking home and know I have to see them, or when I would walk down the steps in my house, knowing they were there in the living room and I would have to walk by them.

And I developed an intense burning in my abdomen that felt like my stomach acid burning a hole through the lining. My heart was having palpitations. I told them this was happening as a result of what they’re doing to me, and they laughed at me and said I was making myself out to be a “poor little victim.” They both laughed hysterically at me. And my mom sarcastically, to be dismissive, said “Oh sure you have heart palpitations.” To imply that I don’t.

I learned to cope better and stopped the physical effects. But I would like more ideas on how to live with it.

I can explain & express myself better and remember details better in writing, so I tried to explain in-depth here so it will be easier to remember & talk about in person during my appointment. I wouldn’t be able to remember as many details when I’m talking in person.

**********

That’s the whole message my therapist received, so she’ll know all this already when I get to my first appointment. That is so helpful. I’m glad they set it up that way.

I actually asked for help a while ago, but I wasn’t getting anywhere. Whenever I found a therapist or therapy place and read about it or talked to them on the phone, they were either too expensive, virtual (I don’t want that), just not vibing with me, or there were no spots available.

Someone I talked to about it before, sent me the bio of a therapist who is taking on one more patient before she leaves in a few months. That sounds perfect to me as I don’t feel I really need a therapist other than this problem.

I think it can be resolved in a few sessions. I want my side heard and to maybe get some tips to cope with it in my own mind since there is NO CHANCE of the situation getting better. I have to count on my own mind to just handle it.

I read her bio, and I think she’ll be great. I’m glad I found her, and it feels I already have an ally in my corner who is committed to listening to understand my side.

This abuse is pernicious. It’s done in a way that’s clever and more difficult to call out. It’s carefully crafted to make it look like it could all be me and have me doubting myself and asking myself if I’m really just being petty and overreacting. My gut has always known I’m not. Then, I paid attention and thought it through and then saw social media posts about abuse & abusers like this. Sometimes whole families against one. And I understand now. They claim I’m the abuser and toxic person.

If I am the abuser, then why are my sister’s Facebook posts about me public, where I can see? An abuser would knock her head off for that. Why does my post have to have certain people blocked off it, but hers can be public?

Because I’m the one who would suffer the consequences of holding an abuser accountable. How ironic that I am the one called a narcissistic abuser, yet they can say whatever they want to and about me, right in front of me, with no consequences. And I have to keep everything in or suffer the wrath.

I see people in person and in movies refusing to accept something that is not even a fraction of the mistreatment I endure. That’s when I am reminded how bad it really is. When I see people calling out mistreatment that is nothing next to this because they know it’s wrong. And I’m expected to believe what happens to me is ok and that I deserve it (when I’m not being told it never happened).

I have a happy life outside of this. I have a fulfilling job and volunteer job. I have hobbies & interests, friends, and my pets. I have my health and events I attend. This makes it easier to cope with.

So, here is my side and my voice.

And, I hope anyone else out there struggling in silence like this, will read this, and recognize it as abuse and understand what is happening to them is wrong. It’s not ok. It’s not “just the way they are.” You are not overreacting. You’re not “too sensitive.” Your reactions and emotions are valid. You are not the problem. They’ll have you feeling like you are and doubting yourself and feeling petty. They are serious abusers.

They are no better than the husband who walks through the door and batters his wife and slaps her around.

You are seen and heard and understood here in my space. 💚

(It’s possible I may add to this post later, but I do have another, much longer version. Sometimes, I edit my posts later, when I think of more to add)

The Agony & The Ecstasy – Update on a deep post I shared almost a year ago ♥️

Recent, random Pic of me ♥️

Still The Same – Bob Seger

Content warning ⚠️: nothing graphic but mention of mental health issues, s*icidal inclination, r*pe (I have never experienced r*pe, myself, just briefly sharing that it happened to someone I used to know)

I did a thing! My heart was pounding so hard, my hands were shaking. I hesitated and thought I would back out. I even got dizzy. It wasn’t anxiety. It was fullblown FEAR. There was a sickly terror running through me. My body was in full fight or flight mode as if I was in literal life threatening danger. My gut was telling me not to, that it could only end badly. It wasn’t my intuition talking but my fear. There was a loud voice in the back of my head yelling at me not to. But something deep inside told me I had to. I had to know. My healing has made room for curiosity & concern, where there was no room before. The space in me was taken up by seemingly insurmountable pain & humiliation & fear & selfish love & coveting, despair. No room for curiosity or concern or selfless love. Until now.

Around a year ago, I shared a deep, raw, honest, heartfelt post about when I was rejected by a woman I was secretly (never told anyone about her or this experience til last December when I posted it here) head over heels in love with for so many years and how that experience has deeply affected me in both pleasant & not so pleasant ways to this day. She was 45 years old, I was 27 years old when I confessed my love for her. I met her when she was 40 years old, and I was 21 years old.

I loved her since that very first moment I laid eyes on her, when I saw her across the crowded room, and the world suddenly stopped spinning.

I know that it might sound
More than a little crazy but I believe
I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life

This is what it felt like upon finding her. It felt like finding my other half, like we were the two halves of the same whole.

I Knew I Loved You – Savage Garden

She was my everything, the love of my life, and I thought she would be by my side forever. I sent her messages telling her that, and she unfriended and ghosted me without a reason given or any response. I was utterly ruined. I agonized for years over why she did not want me even as an acquaintance or casual online friend, yet she had so many others she loved, even strangers. She’s a universal lover like me. Everyone is welcome in her world. But not me, the one I felt loved her most. This shattered me to my core. I would have instantly laid down my own life for her if necessary.

After she rejected me, I stalked her social media accounts for years in absolute despair. All of her stuff has always been public. She did not block me, just unfriended and stopped communicating with me. Before this, we were hardly even acquaintances but did occasionally communicate through her Facebook posts. She never initiated contact with me, but she did respond to my comments to her. After she cut me off completely, I read her blog, watched her YouTube videos, still looked at her Facebook and Instagram accounts, til eventually it got to be too much, and I stopped looking for years but still loved her. Then, with lots of conscious work, I became indifferent to her. I stopped the online stalking and moved on. It was the only way for me to emotionally survive.

The rejection destroyed me, and I thought I would never recover. It took me YEARS (even after no longer looking at her social media for years) to get over her and the rejection. The rejection physically sickened me, I had headaches for weeks after the initial rejection, I fell into a very deep major depressive episode for months. Through the years, every now & again, another depressive episode would be triggered, especially if I looked at her social media accounts/blog/YouTube while in a low mood.

Especially when I saw her with other people, especially when I saw her with him. Words can never express the deep pain that ripped through my entire being to see that other people got to have access to her, be loved by her, had the gift of her time and presence but not me. And not understanding why because we have all the same views, interests, values… we’re so, so alike. She’s very social and was always around people, hanging out with people. She cherished and prioritized platonic friendship, like me. She would take pictures of her friends and write about how much she loved them. She would share pictures of them laughing together at restaurants and cafes. While I was happy that she had people to love and be loved by, so much of me was beyond jealous and just shattered that I couldn’t be one of them. It just k!lled me. Through the years, I would look at her Instagram account after she unfriended me on Facebook (I did not have an Instagram account back then), and see her with other people and fall into a deep, s*icidal depressive episode, sometimes for months. I would ask myself why. Why I wasn’t good enough for her but they are. This triggered me to feel not good enough for anyone. Before her, I had amazing self esteem, maybe a little bit too much self esteem. I admit it. In my last December post (2022) about her, I share that now I’m glad she humbled me because I thought I was all that and a bag of Skittles. Lol I was arrogant. I’m glad I’m not anymore.

Every now & again, I still experience a hint of that feeling that I’m not good enough for anyone and have nothing to offer, as a result of her rejection. I internalized it as not being good enough. A feeling that no matter what I have to give someone, someone else can give better or more so why would anyone want me. It still lingers today. It’s not a constant feeling, an insecurity that comes & goes. Sometimes I’m hesitant to reach out to people for this reason. Before her, I never had this feeling, before her I thought I was the sh!t who could love someone better than she has ever been loved before, that I had everything to give, that my love was unique and rare and shocking because of how deep and whole it is. Like I mention in my other post, she knocked me down a few pegs, and I never quite got back up. But that’s ok, it’s part of living. It’s nearly impossible to get through life without any scars. Also, she did nothing wrong by rejecting me. However I interpreted or responded to it is my issue, not hers.

I had to work for years to become indifferent to her because the memories were so painful. She brought me immense joy to think of but also so much pain.

For so many years, I could not let myself be curious about her. I couldn’t think about her in an attached way to be concerned. It was destroying my mental health. My love for her became dormant. Memories of her no longer brought me joy or pain. Eventually I pretty much stopped thinking of her at all. Last year I decided to share a post about her inspired by a post I saw for Pride Month asking us to share about our first heartbreak if we aren’t heterosexual. It took me six months to complete. It was exhausting to write, but I loved writing it. I loved revisiting that joyful and agonizing experience. Writing that true story helped heal me so much and made me realize I had so much pain and pent up emotion in me about the whole situation. I realized I never stopped loving her. Now after ten+ years, I am able to release it all and set it free and go back to loving her but with a selfless detachment.

I love her deeply. I always have. I never stopped loving her and never will.

I recently decided to look her up online, something I told myself I would never ever do.

The reason I looked her up now is I am now strong enough and healed enough to think of her and be affected by the memories without crumbling. Everything I suppressed & repressed has been released and let go. It made room for other things.

I realized I have been very very concerned about her safety. I wasn’t even sure if she’s still alive. I did not want to think that or mention it, but it’s true. I began entertaining the idea of looking her up online to be sure she’s at least alive and hopefully ok.

She has been dangerously s*icidal off & on for many years. She even has a history of attempts and hospitalizations. She struggled immensely with mental health, self esteem, body image, relationships, addiction to prescription pills, she lost her job when I last knew her years ago (they did not have enough money to pay all their employees and let a few go, including her). She was a very successful career woman with an advanced college degree. She was at one point a college instructor. But she always felt like a failure in life. She was very open about this. I always felt like she was out of my league. This wasn’t in a negative, self deprecating, insecure way, just a matter of fact kind of way. She was successful, educated, driven. I was just an undergraduate college girl with average grades and then after college, a food server/cashier at a food serving place where I worked for many years while living at home with parents. She was warm, compassionate, understanding, humble, never in any way arrogant or judgemental of other people’s jobs, living/financial situations. She never saw anyone as inferior. This is not why she rejected me. She even dated men who were less educated and less successful than her. (She’s bisexual but mostly into men and mostly only dated men)

She was r*ped many years before I met her, and it devastated her life & mental health. She struggled with aging. Each birthday, especially milestone ones (like 40 years old) put her at risk for a s*icidal depressive episode that could result in hospitalization. She could not stand getting older.

Since I am now able to think about her, my concern for her got the best of me. I was terrified of what I would see if I looked her up. My body turned to jelly the same way as if it was a close friend or family member I was concerned may have died by s*icide. I was surprised about that. While I care equally about almost everyone, it’s different when it’s someone we know, personally or are close to. It hits harder usually or a different way or has more emotion involved. I haven’t communicated with or seen anything by her on social media or in person in over seven years. At some points I rarely even thought about her. So it was surprising to experience the impact she still has on me all these years later.

She’s popular enough that she is the first person who showed up in the search engine when I put her first and part of her last name in. She’s an editor, writer, public speaker, journalist…

My finger hovered over her name in the searchbox (there was a very small thumbnail picture of her next to her name, I could see she was smiling in it, which was comforting). My heart pounding. I wasn’t sure I could or would go through with it. I asked myself if I really want to do this. I had no idea what I would find or what emotion would overcome me. But I had to know, if I did not look her up again, thoughts that she may not be alive today, that maybe she died by her own hand, would be eating at me and were getting stronger & stronger. I had to know. I had to click her name.

So I did. I clicked her name to see endless search results. (She’s very well known within the writing/editing/blogging community in Philadelphia, so there’s decades worth of stuff about her).

I desperately hoped she’s alive.

Not only is she alive.

She is doing SO well these days!!! She is happy and healthy and thriving in what seems like every aspect of life. She has her life on track, has close lifelong and new friends (some of the same ones she had back then! I did not see him though 😆 anyone who read my other post {linked below} will know who I’m talking about 🤣😂 I dedicated Ceelo Green’s song, “F*ck You” to him for stealing my woman 😭). She has a job she loves. She’s in the same line of work. She’s so successful. She is continuously evolving professionally & personally. She has fulfilling projects and goals she’s working on. She’s well loved in her workplace, community, circle of family & friends. I skimmed back through posts for a while, a few years worth, and she has been doing well for a while now. Again, my body is overcome in so much emotion that feels it can bring me to the ground but now in a good way. It’s so heartwarming to see how much progress she has made with her mental health and self esteem and how successful she still is, how she has been able to maintain her career even with severe mental health issues and debilitating recurring headaches.

She is still so loving and compassionate, still the same girl I knew and loved so many years ago. She has that same smile, and that same heart of pure gold. She posts the exact same photography of hers as years ago, pictures of the rain and Fall leaves. She still loves all the same stuff, humans, animals, books, writing, intellectual conversations. She has all the same views as before. She still lives in and loves Philadelphia, like me! We’re still the same!!

She has her same Instagram account with all the old photos I remember! I saw some of the ones that triggered me back then. Now they just stirred a slight wistful, nostalgic feeling, nothing intense.

And omg!! She is as beautiful as ever. I was so curious about what she looks like today. She’s 55 years old and doesn’t look a day older than she did when I last saw her pictures 7+ years ago. Omg, she’s STUNNING!! She looks exactly the same. Like she doesn’t age! Only thing that changed physically is she is rocking some gorgeous grey hair that suits her perfectly. She still has the same wavy brown, shoulder length hair I remember but now significantly grey (and just as beautiful!) She has the biggest smile. I am so moved and overwhelmed and inspired by her beauty exactly as I was then, but unlike all those years ago, it doesn’t make me want her. It just makes me smile. I could stare at her all day long, day after day, and never get tired of it.

She does still have depressive episodes here & there, but not almost chronic like before and has better self esteem and a great support system of friends and family and colleagues. I’m beaming as I write this. This is as great as I have ever seen her! I couldn’t be happier if it was myself!

Words cannot express the joy I am overwhelmed in, seeing her doing so well. Her smile is so big. Her eyes have a spark in them. She looks so healthy.

And seeing her current pictures, reading her recent blog posts, seeing her in pictures with close friends, even ones she knew back when I knew her, does not hurt me in any way! No old emotions came flooding back. Or almost none. There was a brief sense of nostalgia surging through me looking at some of her recent pictures, seeing her face, the one I knew so well all those years ago. There was also a hint of longing, but I realized it was just reliving memories of old emotions, not a current longing. Nothing came back to haunt me or drown me.

I was afraid it could. But my fear that she may not be alive or may be suffering regularly of the depression was worse than the fear that I may crumble at the fact that I cannot have her.

There is one thing, her talking about her lifelong depression and me completely understanding so intimately in a way that most couldn’t possibly because most never have depression lifelong like we do. Many people experience depression, but usually an episode or as a response to a current difficult situation. We have recurring lifelong depression that has sometimes been almost chronic and sometimes like not having depression at all. I experience a deep close connection to her through this. I just know. This briefly provoked me to wish we could be friends even now. Our experience with depression is so much a part of us that it can’t be separated. I wouldn’t be the me that I am without it. It finds its way into many casual conversations even with strangers. We have depressed days and not depressed days because of how frequent it can be. On any given morning we can wake up depressed out of nowhere or feel it creeping on slowly for no reason or triggered by something. This is something most people wouldn’t truly understand. This is a reason I have always felt a deep connection to Joan Rivers who also lived a life of s*icidal depression.

I will admit there’s one recent post of her and a group of her girls where she wrote something like “best friends for 30+ years, some people are meant to be in your life forever” where I felt a brief surge of that feeling all over again that I experienced years ago, that insecure feeling like why does she love them and not me, what made her reject me, I would have been so happy just to be an acquaintance of hers. Why them but not me? What do they have that I don’t? What made her choose to have them as friends and maintain those relationships for decades but not choose me? Why were they meant to be in her life forever but not me? I confess, I felt rejected all over again. It felt like she slapped me in the face with that post. An automatic, uncontrollable thought or feeling ran through me. What am I lacking that makes me not good enough? If I was in a fragile state of mind, as I sometimes am when my depression is flaring, if I was still so attached to her, this could have pushed me over some edge. But I wasn’t in a fragile state, and I’m not attached to her any longer.

I realized it was just some egoistic thing, me being self important, and was able to let it go almost as quickly as it came, and look at the much more important thing, the only thing that matters, she is happy, healthy, loved, has people to love. It does not matter why she rejected & ghosted me. It doesn’t matter why she doesn’t love me but loves so many others. It’s not about me.

This is the best gift to me, I can’t even put it into words how so happy I am for her. It’s similar to that feeling I express in my other post about her, that joyful feeling years ago where it’s like walking on air, skipping along the streets, frolicking about, wanting to sing & dance. But now it’s not because I’m hoping she’ll ever be mine, it’s a completely detached kind of joy that is only for her, about her living her best life.

If there’s one thing I could say to her it’s I love you, I love you, I love you my sweet, but in a detached way, a way that is only selfless, no expectations, no coveting. I want nothing but the best for you, nothing but happiness and love. And I no longer yearn to be the source of that happiness & love.

She still posts regularly just like years ago. I’m not going to make a habit of looking at her social media account and blog. We’re just not going to be a part of each other’s lives even though it’s what I so desperately wanted for so many years. Our lives briefly crossed, touched, and that forever changed and marked me. And that is enough.

This once is enough for me. It’s all I needed. Now I can truly put it to rest. I found my closure. (I will continue to write dark love poetry inspired by her though just because I love dark love poetry, and real experiences make for the best poetry lol)

I am also thankful that this experience shows me how healed and mentally ok I am, myself. There was a day it just k!lled me, triggered depression, even s*icidal thoughts in me, triggered insecurity in me, feelings like I’m not good enough for her or anyone, to see pictures of her and posts by her knowing she rejected me and not knowing why. There was a day her beauty was so tantalizing to me I couldn’t live without it. I couldn’t live with the pain of knowing someone so beautiful exists and will never be mine. Now her beauty is still just as mindblowing, but I can just bask in it and move along.

I was also mortified, humiliated about the sappy, clingy messages I sent her and then being rejected. I’m still embarrassed today. I was concerned that seeing her again, even if just online, would trigger me to be humiliated all over again to where it was interfering with life. I spilled my heart & soul, my guts to her all those years ago and so deeply regretted it because I would have been happy enough just being social media friends, but she unfriended me because of my messages, and also regretted it because of the embarrassment that plagued me. I wondered if she showed anyone my messages to her and if they judged me. I was afraid that would come back. But that did not happen!

I am so glad I looked her up. 😁

And oh yes, I mentioned in that last December post that I can’t believe I forgot the color of her eyes. I zoomed in on one of her recent pictures 😆 They’re dark, they look brown. It’s a bit hard to tell. I was afraid I would slip when I was zooming in and like one of her pictures. That’s all I need, I would seriously just die. I can imagine her thinking “Oh, her again.” Or “is she going to come back every decade?” 🤣😂

I was also afraid I would see a screencapture of my messages I wrote years ago. Like if she shared any parts of them to comment (she wouldn’t post my name or ridicule me, she’s not like that, but she may just to critique or share her thoughts on them, I’m still embarrassed and slightly more than I have been the last ten years now that I been thinking of her more lol).

Would I love to have her as my friend? Yes!! But I am completely ok loving her at a distance and accepting she was never going to be mine. I can’t say I’m 100% over it or healed, it may be one of those things that leaves a light scar forever, but a scar that is completely ok and just part of who we are.

I will probably always wonder, though the question doesn’t plague me like it did back then, why she rejected me to the point of ghosting/unfriending instead of ignoring my messages but staying social media friends. I understand not wanting to respond, maybe she felt awkward telling me she’s not interested in me. I understand if she did not want a close relationship with me. Not everyone is emotionally attracted to everyone in a way that makes them want that level of closeness with someone. Not everyone wants to be personal, active friends with everyone even in a way that isn’t close. There are people I like but am not interested in being friends with them but wouldn’t mind having them as online friends and definitely people I like but not in a way I want to be super close, emotionally. But to this day I do wonder why she did not even like me seeing as how so very similar we always were. And she had no problem with me in the first place. She never showed much interest in me, but she kept me around. Until the love confession. I never explicitly asked her to be anything to me. I came to the conclusion years ago that I must have come on too strongly, we were barely even acquaintances, she never even showed the slightest interest in me, never initiated communication with me, and I’m gushing all over the place about how much I love & have always loved her, how great we could be together, and sharing my entire life story in paragraphs & paragraphs. Lol Maybe it was too much, maybe she was creeped out. Who knows? And it’s mostly to the point where I can even say who cares. But I probably always will wonder why, maybe even wonder with a pang.

Just another random pic of me lol I like to add a few photos to my posts ♥️ This sweater is SO comfy & warm & soft, I love it!! The leggings are too, they have fake fur inside them.

I don’t currently have close friends. And that brings me so much pain & loneliness off & on. I am happy I have a group I occasionally meet up with and have fun with hanging out. But I haven’t made any deep connections yet since my college friends and me drifted apart (their choice, not mine) some years ago. It’s important to have deep friendship (for the average person, some don’t need it), especially with depression. I know the pain of that lack, so I’m so glad that she has that.

I am just so happy!! I am so happy that she is so great and surrounded by so much love and is fulfilled in life. I couldn’t ask for a better gift to me today.

Not only am I happy for her, it gives me hope for others in a dark place. What an inspiration! To see how she was able to turn her whole life around.

And omg, she’s so lovely!! ♥️♥️♥️ I’m so happy I got to see what she looks like now. So intoxicating. Gave me a big energy boost. Dopamine, adrenaline, serotonin or whatever lol

She looks similar to Tina Fey (people have always told her this, and I do see the resemblance). She has the sexy librarian, smart girl look. She still wears the same glasses that I have always thought she looked so adorable in!

Tina Fey ♥️

Just for some eye candy and an idea of what she looks like, here’s Tina Fey lol

Here is my post this current post is referring to. It’s super long!!

Elevator phobe 🖤 {heads up:⚠️ there’s a picture of my cut finger in this post}

Content warning ⚠️: phobia

Click link to watch video if desired- it will show up

This video f’d me up lol Most horrifying thing I have seen. I literally felt like the very very beginning of a panic att*ck coming on, had to take some deep breaths lol 😆 Felt like my chest caving in

A man got stuck in n elevator at like the 39th floor in the middle of the night on a Friday and wasn’t found til Sunday.

I thought this was going to trigger a relapse in me just hearing that true story 😂

Also, I was where this girl was at one point. She runs up and down 17 flights of stairs to avoid elevators. I totally understand. I did that for years, even running up/down twenty floors. But I overcame it with exposure therapy some years ago. I’m so glad. That fear was crippling.

I got cut yesterday on a doorknob in an apartment building I visit for work. My claustrophobia was acting up (I struggled with debilitating claustrophobia for as long as I can remember, conquered it with exposure therapy a few years ago, it’s generally dormant, but every once in a while, I have a minor flare (this is different than a relapse which happened once), particularly if I’m dehydrated {I’m very physically active seven days a week and can get dehydrated easily, though I’m working on this – dehydration in me can trigger anxiety physical feelings, racing heart, anxious feelings, jitters…that aren’t about any specific thing, and that general anxiety can latch onto a certain thing or thought, and sometimes manifests as my claustrophobia even though it’s not originally that, yeah it’s weird lol If I have an anxious feeling for no reason just like if I have a depressed feeling not about anything in particular, it can search for something to latch onto and become about that then get carried away with it}).

I wasn’t going to go into a panic or anything but could tell I would be a bit anxious on an elevator. I just wasn’t up for it. Even on my best days having to get into an elevator takes a little bit of emotional energy out of me. It’s not destructive to my mental health because it doesn’t happen often enough and is only a little bit. I have no problem at all in general getting into elevators. But usually I do have to psych myself up for getting into one. If I’m tired (which isn’t often) or just not in a very good mood, it may be better for me to avoid elevators if possible (not always possible as I frequently have to get into them for work, and not all buildings have stair access going up or some are on like the 40th or 60th floor, I’m very physically fit but don’t think even I can run up 40 floors 😆) because I can’t give it my all like when I’m my best self. This just takes emotional energy I may not have that moment and makes me more susceptible to relapse. My claustrophobia will likely never be cured, just dormant. But that’s no problem at all, it’s enough for me to be able to function well. It used to be crippling.

Because my claustrophobia was flaring, I decided to take the stairs. I stepped through the door leading to the stairs, and it closed (I remember hoping it did not lock). I looked around, and there were no stairs to be seen, just a room with a bunch of closed doors. My first thought was uh oh, what if they’re all locked, but I did not actually believe it, thought it was just my claustrophobia talking. But sure enough. None of them would open. So I reached for the handle to open the door I just came through, and the handle broke off. I frantically grabbed the broken part still on the door and pulled. It stayed closed and sliced my hand in multiple places, especially the finger here. I tried putting the handle back on and pulling it open, but it came off again. So there I was locked in a room, the room I decided to go in to get to the stairs because my claustrophobia was acting up, and I wasn’t exactly in the headspace for being enclosed somewhere. Isn’t it ironic? Lol And my phone was almost drained.

I did not go into a panic even though I was locked in. I still remained calm and decided to try the doors again thinking if I can’t get out, I’ll just call someone and explain. I got one open that led to the stairs. To come back down, I had to get into the elevator anyway because the stairs would just lead right back to that room lol

These are my FB posts earlier. Just sharing here lol I had a battle with this building again this morning 😹

Sending love & hugs to all who want it!

Just some random body positivity post! ❤️(Revealing photos{of me in lingerie}, just a heads up 😆)

“Two things in the world are not meant to be hidden – love and a woman in a red dress.”

(This isn’t a dress; it’s a teddy lol) ❤️

I splurged on some new lingerie, just for myself to look pretty in. I want to start doing photoshoots (me being the photographer and the model) for body/age(older women are even hotter!) positivity, celebration of female beauty, aesthetics…. Unfortunately I cannot really fit anymore pics on here. I have to see how to upgrade and get more storage space. And on Facebook, there is so much s*ut bashing and misogyny. I’m not promiscuous, just like revealing clothing, and nothing wrong with being promiscuous anyway. But facebook is full of misogynistic men who insist everything a woman does is for them, saying we’re “asking for it” and stuff. And that we shouldn’t post “thirst trap” photos unless we want their attention and they get butthurt when they are rejected. So I may or may not put pics on there but definitely will on Instagram! I also use VSCO but haven’t in a while because there are too many glitches and it’s hard to use now on my phone but I’ll try again. I’m in a bunch of lesbian groups on Facebook, including lesbian thirst trap ones intended to share revealing photos of ourselves, and may post some there. There aren’t supposed to be any (cisgender) men in those groups (though I wouldn’t be surprised if there are some pervs lurking) and most women don’t act like that, so it’s a safespace. I LOVE compliments by anyone of any gender but too many men act entitled and can’t handle rejection then criticize us for dressing a certain way and/or posting pics of ourselves. I don’t mind them looking though. I can take a compliment. LoL

Like I always say to the men, you can look but “U can’t touch this.” 😆😆😆

💋 xoxo

I’m going to order this in red and other colors too! ❤️💋 My skin is so so soft and smooth ever since my skincare routine. I am Heaven to touch. LoL I rub lotions and oils all over me, just out of a shower (it works better when the skin is wet), then again in the morning. I also use special soap and my skin looks so clean. Also, slather on that sunblock! Spf 50 and 70 is best but at least 30!

This is extremely revealing! LoL You can see all my stuff right through it. That’s why my hand is there(hoping it just looks casually placed and not like I’m trying to cover it 😆). Not that I mind but it’s not allowed on most social media platforms. LoL

LoL 😆
Xoxo 💋😘
LoL I look a tad mischievous here. 😆🖤

🖤

Black velvet, if you please. 🖤
🖤✨ Never let anyone dull your sparkle. 💖
“Baby, that red dress brings me to my knees
Oh, but that black dress makes it hard to breathe” 🖤
❤️

I love compliments of any kind by people of all genders but definitely not looking for the D. LoL 😆😂 Keep that ish in your pants 😁

This is the disclaimer I am going to start putting on any thirst trappy photos I post on Facebook. LoL 😆 (No, this isn’t a thirst trap for men. Yes, I appreciate compliments, but I don’t get all dolled up and think “I’m going to look so good for these men today.” lol For me, it’s about body positivity, aesthetics, celebrating female beauty…and also we can celebrate our sexuality {if we have one} and it not be about men or anyone else. A woman can feel empowered and confident in her own sexuality and want to express it for herself. Her sexuality is her own. Even if she’s attracted to men, that doesn’t mean she’s sharing pics of herself just for them. It’s about her. And she may not even be attracted to men. And often, women even post to inspire other women or fem presenting people. I’m going to copy and paste this disclaimer on each pic of me that I share because men are saying we shouldn’t post “thirst trap” photos unless we want them and then are calling us s*uts and wh*res if we ignore or reject them, asking why we post pics of ourselves in revealing clothing then. I had to block a few already. So yeah, this will be on each of my pictures that could come off as thirst trappy. lol Compliments of any nature are welcome though, by people of all genders.)

So these are a few recent photos of me! I will purchase more lingerie soon and get more pics. Hopefully I get more storage space soon! 😁

I suggest, once in a while, splurging on something just for yourself even if not needed. It’s ok to purchase something unnecessary now and again that brings us joy. It’s a form of self care. I do not need this lingerie or the heels I buy occasionally and can’t even really use it much. Can’t wear the lingerie out and it’s not even that comfy to sleep in. I’m a dogwalker and can’t wear the heels usually. But it makes me so happy to dress up on occasion, just for me, and maybe take some pics. ❤️ Go for it! Buy that dress you may never wear or the heels that aren’t practical but oh so pretty. Buy the teddy just for you even if no one else will see.

(not my photo)

I hope you are having a beautiful day or night wherever in the world you are! Sending hugs to all who want any!

And remember, beauty comes in all sizes, shapes, ethnicities, ages…❤️ If you got it, flaunt it, and if you don’t, flaunt it anyway! Nothing wrong with celebrating our own beauty and each other’s! 😍 Also, remember, a woman can celebrate her own beauty in a solely aesthetic way or even celebrate her sexuality without meaning it’s for a man. She may just feel empowered and confident expressing her sexuality through clothing and pics or she may be posting for other women, either to inspire other heterosexual women or she may be attracted to other women/women aligned people. And all of that is valid! ❤️

(I posted some of these on Instagram after writing this post. I wrote this a couple weeks ago and never published it.)

My next post is going to be about something I have never shared with anyone before, not online or in person. Something I have kept tucked away in my head for over a decade. A true story of love & heartbreak. My own experience of telling a woman I loved her and getting rejected. Also some of my experience with growing up, not heterosexual/not attracted to men (this part I have shared in the last few years, but I’m going to share some in depth experience in my next post!). It’s a post I have been working on for a while and it’s just about ready!

Xoxo Kim ❤️😘

Soft touch ❤️💋

This is my Instagram post a few weeks ago in case anyone is interested in a skincare product that makes the skin super soft! Dermatologist recommended! 😍💙 I deleted some old pics out of media library here to fit these new pics of me taken a few weeks ago! 😁

Cetaphil. I strongly recommend anyone looking for a skincare product to soften skin, to try this. It may not work for everyone the way it works for me but definitely give it a try. I am HEAVENLY to touch. I have very sensitive skin n am out all day all year long in extreme heat n cold. I have been looking for something to keep my skin soft and lovely n found it! Nothing else works like this! Whenever I touch my skin, even by accident very briefly throughout the day, it sends bolts of sensual pleasure through me.(not sexual 🤣). Like ecstasy. It is amazing!! My whole body is soft and smooth. Works best when I put it all over my body while it’s wet just after getting out of a shower in the evenings. Not dripping wet but still wet. I let myself air dry a bit then rub it all over me everywhere while I’m still all wet. Works wonders. Also put it on in the morning when I wake up. This lotion alone does not work as well for my face. So for my face, I clean it with witch hazel of any kind then when it dries, put the lotion on. I have charcoal too for my face n some other stuff I haven’t made a routine yet but will. My face is most exposed to the sun n I haven’t worn sunblock almost at all for five years out in the sun over ten hours a day, seven days. Melanoma just waiting to happen but hopefully not! I always forget! This isn’t sponsored or paid ad or anything, just trying to help anyone looking for a skincare product! It took me a while. Even if I skip a day(usually try not to), my skin stays extra soft. The skin on my lower body was already very soft, probably gets less sun, but even more softer after using this body lotion. I’m a pet nanny n the skin on my right hand is a bit damaged after years of walking many dogs seven days a week. I wrap the leashes very tightly around my hand to be extra sure they can’t get loose n when they pull n the constant friction does damage. Not painful at all but is damaged n the lotion even helps this, though not completely.
It begins working almost instantly, at least in my experience. Give it a try and you won’t be able to keep your paws off yourself! 😆 (I look like I’m trying to be all cute in the second pic but I’m not)

Sending love to all! 💜

Princess – a short fictional story I don’t recommend…

IMG_14046021

“Life is like a game of cards. The hand you are dealt is determinism; the way you play it is free will.” – Jawaharlal Nehru

Unless you want to be scarred for life like I am. Lol j/k but it’s seriously twisted!

Recently I read a short story on BlackBerry Kindle like 47 pages and it’s another kind of insanity. An insanity you don’t even want to think about.

It sucked me right in and reading it was thoroughly entertaining but then it just got insane. At the end I had one of those “DAFUQ DID I JUST READ?!?!?!” moments.

I’m going to write about it here, including the end so if you would prefer to read the short story before reading this then you know to click it off.

But like I said, unless you want to be traumatized forever, don’t. Lol

It’s a psychological thriller and in the reviews it is said to be dark and deeply disturbing. And it is!

It’s BEYOND disturbing.

It starts out with a mother helping her teenage daughter get ready for her prom, fixing her hair in front of a mirror in her bedroom, and her date is late showing up. The daughter is concerned that he’s standing her up and going with another person.

Her mother gets furious at this and spins the chair around that her daughter is in and yells in her daughter’s face that she is second to no one and the boy is probably just experiencing car trouble. Then in a split second the mother is back to her sweet self again smiling cheerfully at her daughter telling her that she’s the most beautiful girl in the whole county and everyone always knew it. That to me is a red flag right there that the mom may have some kind of issues going on getting furious in a split second to the point of screaming loudly in her daughter’s face then just as soon puts on a sweet smile and goes back to fixing her hair like nothing.
And the way she seems kind of obsessed with her daughter being “the most beautiful girl according to everyone.” It’s just weird.

The story switches scenes to where the girl’s dad is in a shopping mall. The wife is horrible to her husband and controlling and sent him out to find their daughter’s date or he would have to suffer her wrath.

So here the father is searching for a teenage boy to take to his daughter. I was confused at this point because the daughter seems to know her date, Josh, but it seems as if the dad is looking around for a random boy to take back.

Here, that’s exactly the case. Her father is looking for a random teenage boy to abduct!

And call him Josh. Even though he’s not Josh.

The dad gets the boy in a parking lot, drugs him with a needle and takes him home, forces him to dress in a tuxedo before going into the house.

The scene switches back to home where the daughter is getting ready for her prom. They live on a secluded farm in the middle of nowhere and don’t know anyone.

The mom answers the phone and is
relieved to hear that “Josh” just had “car trouble” and is on his way to pick up their little girl for the prom.

Here, the “daughter” is a mannequin! With a wig! Wtf?!  And the mom switches roles. First she’s the mom and the daughter is the mannequin. Then the mom takes on the role of the daughter and the mannequin becomes the mom!

The mom put on the wig and became the daughter and was conversing with the mannequin who is now the mom.

Then the dad came home with the abducted boy who they call Josh. The boy is utterly confused (as am I at this point..)as the dad tells him to wear the tux, answer to Josh, and do whatever his “daughter” (who is really his wife) says. The dad says he’s not explaining anything to just do as he says because he has a gun and will use it if the boy resists.

The “girl” walks down the stairs calling for Josh and she’s wearing a dirty pink dress that is too small. She’s clearly not a teenage girl but a middle aged woman. At first the boy thinks it’s a twisted joke and smiles then quickly realizes it’s a nightmare of reality.

The “prom” takes place in the basement of the house and there’s no other guests. Just the abducted boy and the husband and wife who is pretending to be the daughter. The husband and wife act as if there are other kids there though but they focus mostly only on “Josh.” They have punch and music and decorations and dancing. They pretend there’s a room full of kids and talk on a microphone to the audience.

The boy begins crying because he’s so scared but the woman/girl assumes/acts like he’s just so happy and moved over the whole prom thing.

The husband is relieved at this because if the boy doesn’t cooperate, the husband will suffer his wife’s abuse for him not doing a good job.

Then they go into a small room and the girl/woman shows her date a photo album and in all the photos is a mother and real daughter. The mother in the photos with the real daughter is clearly the woman now pretending to be a teenage girl. The photos are mostly of them at beauty contests.

The little girl who is the real daughter wins the beauty contests every year, she’s holding a trophy in every photo. But soon she comes to look very much like her mom (the lady now pretending to be the daughter) who is considered less than pretty and overweight.

So she starts getting second, third, last, then no winning place. The mom is obsessed with beauty and being/looking perfect. She tries to force this on her daughter. The woman pretending to be the teenager tells her “prom date” about how her mom was obsessed with physical beauty always trying to force her to live up to impossible standards, claiming that the judges of the contests were just jealous or something.

Then she puts the photo album away and forces the abducted boy to engage in sexual activity with her. He doesn’t want to but the dad has a gun and threatens him.

So here’s a husband forcing a teenage boy to get it on with his wife! Who is pretending to be a teenage girl! Can you say, TWISTED?!

Something in the punch made it so the boy can be aroused enough to get it up even though he doesn’t want to.

Then they go outside and have some thing where they are elected prom queen and king.

Throughout the story the dad keeps reassuring the boy when he asks, that he will be let go and can go home at the end.

It’s a lie. They are planning on killing the boy.

It’s clear throughout the story that the husband is distressed over this whole situation and doesn’t want to participate but feels he has little say in it; his wife is emotionally abusive and forces him to do stuff.

It also becomes clear that this whole “prom” thing happens every year where the dad reluctantly goes and abducts a random boy, brings him home, he’s forced to engage in a “prom” and sexual things with the wife, then they kill him without anyone ever knowing.

Since they live in the middle of nowhere they’re less likely to get found out. No one ever thinks to look for the missing boys there.

I kind of guessed the end but got a couple things wrong. I thought it would turn out that years ago their real daughter was killed on prom night, I thought maybe a car crash going to the prom. And that the mom got so messed up over it she does this shit every year.

That’s kind of what happened but not quite.

At the end the boy wants an explanation since he’s going to be killed anyway.

So the husband tells him.

Spoiler alert….
.
.
.

Five years ago on prom night his real teenage daughter was supposed to go to the prom with a popular boy named Josh. His daughter was unpopular and horribly bullied for her physical appearance and body weight. So when a popular boy asked her out it came as a shock but the girl was thrilled. She got all ready on prom night and Josh never showed up. So when she called him, he laughed at her and said all insults about her, said it was all a joke, that he would never go out with her, he was going with someone else.

She was devastated. Her mom showed no compassion and said it was all her daughter’s fault for not being good enough, for not being pretty, for being second to other girls.

So the girl ran outside and her dad went to run after her but his wife demanded him not to and said let their daughter think about what the mother said, that it will do her good or something. The dad reluctantly listened to his wife as he always does. Then later he found that his daughter hanged herself off the rafter things outside. He had to cut her lifeless body off the thing and watch her fall to the ground getting her pink dress all dirty. The pink dress the mom wears now for this freak show.

Then every year after that the mom set this up.

As the dad is telling the boy how his wife destroyed their daughter, he’s crying and says he misses his daughter terribly and how his wife couldn’t even show her some sympathy after her ordeal with the boy on the phone. He doesn’t even know why he goes along with this every year. He suspects it may have something to do with his own feelings of inadequacy that no one would ever want him, that he will always be alone. Years ago he always felt like that and was relieved that the girl who became his wife, wanted him forever. So he always did everything she told him to out of fear of losing her and being forever alone.

At the very end, the boy promises he won’t tell if the dad let’s him go, he says out of respect for his daughter he’ll keep it quiet. The dad is holding a gun to the boy.

Then the husband gets up, goes inside to the wife where she’s still pretending to be the daughter. And he tells her he misses their daughter so much. The wife looks confused since right now in her twisted head she is the daughter.

Then he points the gun at her and blows her away then does away with himself.

The end.

Bizarre ass shit, isn’t it?!

It’s sad and tragic and bizarre.
The whole thing.

Not an uplifting read.

And some things you just can’t unread.

No matter how desperately you want to.

Lol

My heart breaks for that poor girl who died, feeling as if that was the only way out, like she was worthless and not good enough. My heart breaks for the dad who lost his little girl who he loved. He was wrong for killing the innocent boys he killed all those years and for killing his wife. But his anguish for his tragic loss is clear. It’s only fiction but it’s still sad. And unfortunately, stuff like this really happens(suicide, bullying, abuse…hopefully not the prom thing as well).

I believe the wife knew exactly what she was doing. That’s why she had to get a mannequin and keep making it a point to reverse roles, switching wigs and all. She knew to keep switching and to have to get a physical figure in place of a mother/daughter. She knew to relentlessly criticize her husband if he did not do exactly what she wanted. She knew to keep the thing a secret so she wouldn’t be in trouble.

While mental illness and feelings of inadequacy, low self-esteem, being verbally/emotionally abused are not the person’s fault and no one can just make them go away, when a person struggles with these things, that person has a choice. A choice to seek help, to overcome, get better, pro-act. The man couldn’t help it that his wife was abusive to him and that he had low self-esteem but that is no justification for abducting people, drugging them, and aiding in sexually assaulting them.

It’s not the wife’s fault that she had unhealthy views about body image but it’s no justification for forcing her own standards on her daughter, emotionally torturing her ’til she killed herself. The woman could have worked on herself to shift her views to more positive ones. She was projecting her own insecurity onto her innocent daughter. She could have chosen love over the abuse and bitterness. It’s not her fault she felt the need to have a fake prom every year, maybe she had some kind of mental illness(???) but she could have got professional help or worked on herself with self-help techniques to help this. So it wouldn’t have all ended in tragedy. There may be real people out there somewhere with something like this, people who dress up mannequins and pretend they are real for whatever reason. If that’s just a hobby for fun it’s ok even if people think it’s strange, but if it’s the result of serious emotional problems I think they deserve some compassionate motivation to seek help of some kind and deserve some sort of understanding. This is just a horror story but maybe there’s real people with these sorts of disorders or something. And if there are, it doesn’t mean they’re all dangerous like the people in the story.

And the poor daughter. She was emotionally abused her whole life by her peers and her mother. But suicide isn’t the answer. It’s a tragic, senseless choice. There’s always hope.
Being bullied, humiliated, abused, depressed and suicidal is not a choice but acting on it by killing herself is.
She could have worked on herself to realize her worth and know it’s never dependent upon her physical appearance, her body weight, or what her mom or anyone else says or thinks of her.
There’s always hope. Where there’s life, there’s hope. There’s always a way.

None of these people took responsibility for themselves. They let other people, unhealthy views, situations control them into doing tragic and twisted things. I think this is a great reminder to take responsibility. No situation or other person has the power if we don’t let them. We have the power over ourselves.

I think this story isn’t meant to be thought provoking like this. It’s probably just supposed to be dark, twisted, insane, disturbing, thrilling. And that’s ok! Some people are into that kind of thing. I like some stuff like that too. But I still found some insights in the story that serve as great reminders. I’m happy I read it. Lol

We must know we have choices. Not realizing we have a choice can be almost as bad as really not having one but it’s not quite as bad as really not having a choice. We can learn we have a choice, be reminded, realize, see the light.

I think the only character in this story who really had no choice is the boy who was abducted. He had a gun held to him so basically he had no choice if he wanted to not be killed or threatened.
But he has a choice how to handle the situation and his attitude, and reaction when it’s over.

People who have a choice but don’t yet realize it or are scared and act/think like victims deserve compassion but also deserve to be firmly reminded that it’s all up to them to change their lives and selves. Depressed people, homeless people, unhappy people, financially struggling people, suicidal people, addicted people, ones in abusive environments, ones letting a situation or other people dominate them, people working dead-end, life draining jobs…they all have choices. Positive, healthy choices. They don’t always know they have choices but they do, even if right now the only choice is something as simple as working on their attitude or taking small steps to get out of the situation. Small but significant steps.
Maybe they don’t always know what decision to make but they can seek guidance along the way.
Not everyone has a choice to change something significantly right this very minute.
Not everyone is making conscious or intentional choices to get where they are.

But we can all make the decision to plan to change, our attitude or situation or both. Starting now. In small steps. Small steps are still significant.
And then we can work on that. For some it will definitely be more difficult than others.
Some people have more obstacles and disadvantages than others.
But we all have this life and twenty-four hours each day to do something. Something. Anything.
No matter how hard it is, people can change for the better. Even if it takes longer than desired. Even if it takes a lot of work. Even if it’s painful and seemingly impossible.

We can’t help how we grew up, the people we have been surrounded with, the things they do or say, disabilities or illnesses, job losses or rejections….but we can always make the choice to do something to better ourselves and our situations.
Even if that choice for now is just meditating upon or planning to live up to a positive philosophy of life, quote or affirmation.

Even if that decision is planning in our heads to develop certain positive qualities we don’t yet have or strengthen ones we do have.
Even if that decision is to make a phone call, send an e-mail, walking into a building to ask for help.
Many people feel that it’s cold and callous to say that certain struggling people have choices, that it’s not true, that it’s not being compassionate but none of this is true. It is being compassionate to help empower people to know they can get better, can take action, responsibility for their own lives.
To help people know that we are all dependent in some ways and can be independent in some ways if we really work for it.
There’s a healthy balance of gentle compassion and firm reminders of taking responsibility.

Some people really are cold and not understanding and and do criticize people in a toxic way when they have a choice but act like they don’t. But that’s not what I’m promoting.
We can be firm in reminders but still compassionate and loving and express deep empathy.
The choice to do nothing is still a choice.
Sometimes we can find ourselves in places we are unsure how we got there.  It’s like we just ended up there with no say of our own.
But often it’s because of choices we have been making all along. Not always but often. Choices to do nothing, to settle, to take no action, to give in, to succumb to limiting beliefs. Choices to let other people and situations drag us down.
I have found myself in situations I was so sure I had no say in, no control over, I was a “victim” of sorts. But I later realized the roles I had in situations and what I can do now to begin getting out of it. If we realize we made choices that contributed to unpleasant situations then we can be empowered knowing that means we have the ability to make new choices that contribute to more positive situations.
If you make choices that contribute to unpleasant things then you can make choices that lead to positive things.
And it’s true we don’t always have choices for everything.
But whether or not we had control all along, right now the choice is ours.

On Pain {Norman Vincent Peale}

image

“You can be greater than anything that can happen to you.” ~ Norman Vincent Peale

Last night I posted something about my experience with unbearable physical pain.
It is super long and much longer than I would have liked it to be but I wanted to share much of my experience with the agony to get the point across and express my pain.
I want to thank the people who read/liked it. Thank You so much! I appreciate it deeply. I know most people don’t care to read extra extra long posts and most of my posts will not be that long. 😀 Only when I have a real lot to say all at once. Lol

Here is another post on pain. You don’t have to read my previous post to make sense of this one.

It’s interesting how an extremely painful experience can humble us, deepen our empathy, allow us to be more in touch with and aware of the pain and joy of the world but it can also go the other way. It can lead some to become arrogant in certain ways with a hardened heart, less empathetic, less patient with those who seem to not have experienced as much pain. It can trigger some people to sometimes regard other people’s problems as trivial or not as worthy of compassion compared to their own extreme pain. I don’t think that reaction is wrong or that all people who think that way are completely heartless or that we should all have the same empathetic reaction, necessarily. It’s just my observation.

I can completely understand how someone’s pain or sickness is so bad the person just wants to scoff at someone whining over something so frivolous it seems ridiculous next to what that person is experiencing. I’m not innocent of this myself on some occasions.

We all react in our own way, ways that are best or appropriate or come easily for us based on our experiences and ways of coping, we’re all different and handle things differently and I don’t try to force people to be a certain way or usually judge negatively for how someone else reacts when it’s not how I would react myself.

Some people and some things people say are cold, heartless, callous, and outright cruel to others. And I don’t support or promote it but I understand not everyone will understand and care.  And I still embrace them in my universal love.

My reaction to very painful experiences is almost always deeper empathy or becoming more in tune or aware or being reminded that there are so many others suffering like I am and worse and less who need all the love, compassion, and empathy they can receive.

I don’t believe that physical pain is necessarily not as bad or is worse than emotional pain. They can both be severe, moderate, or mild, depending upon the kind of pain, the person, the coping mechanisms someone has and other circumstances.

I was reading words that inspired Norman Vincent Peale. He inspires me and I want to know what inspired him.

I am not religious or spiritual in a way that has to do with the supernatural. I am an atheist. I don’t believe in the afterlife. But I find inspiration everywhere, even in religious writings and things that people who believe in some god or gods say.

Norman Vincent Peale was a very religious Christian man and well known minister and he is known for his work, “The Power of Positive Thinking.”

I came across his words on pain & suffering.

“Pain and suffering have wracked humanity throughout history. Evidence of arthritis has been discovered in the earliest skeletons of the past.
My friend Lloyd Ogilvie, distinguished pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood, California, once said that he had learned several important lessons from personally experiencing pain and suffering. He found he grew the most spiritually during those ordeals.” ~Norman Vincent Peale

&

“No one welcomes pain. But, rightly faced, it can bring about great good. And we can triumph over it.”

He writes of Doug Williams, quarterback for the Washington Redskins, and how the man endured hours of dental surgery the day before the 1988 Superbowl football game. Then during the game, he injured his knee. But he still led the team to victory, breaking one record after another.

That is truly amazing!

Dr. Peale states that when we are struck by pain, we often ask the wrong questions, such as ‘why me?’ But more positive and productive questions are ‘What can I learn from this? What can I do about it? What can I accomplish in spite of it?’
There is deep wisdom in this and it’s so very motivational and helpful.

I have never asked “Why me?” I don’t want it to be anyone and it’s not “me” for any specific reason. I just got this disorder. It’s nothing personal against me, not a punishment I deserve. It’s just something going wrong in my body. Why not me? Why anyone? Because it’s the way our world works.

Some people get terrifying and agonizing sicknesses and disorders, both physical and mental, while others are blessed to never know that pain. But we are not victims unless we choose to be or unless we’re dead. To me, the only victims are dead. That’s not to say living people aren’t in despair and agony and are not suffering and do not deserve compassion. It’s to say no matter how dark it gets, no matter how deep the despair is, we can always choose to get up and pro-act as best as we can.

Here are some quotes Dr. Norman Peale loved by other people:

“In times like these, it helps to recall that there have always been times like these.” ~ Paul Harvey

Yes! If you survived before, which you have since you’re here, surely you will survive again and again and again….when your pain comes in waves or clusters or patterns or just flares, just ride each wave like you’re on top of the world. As the Beach Boys say, catch a wave and you’re sittin’ on top of the world! Oh how easy it is to say and think this when things aren’t so bad but even in pain, sickness, fatigue, depression….it can be done. On a Facebook page for cluster headache support, education, and awareness, I saw this….

“On particularly rough days when I’m sure I can’t possibly endure, I like to remind myself that my track record for surviving bad days so far is 100% and that’s pretty good.”

“It takes more distress and poison to kill someone who has peace of mind and loves life.” ~ Bernie S. Siegel, M.D.

Yup! Physical pain and illness are not depression or a negative attitude. They can contribute to and trigger that but they are not it. They can be separated.  It’s important to keep in mind that we CAN be happy and joyful even in pain. There is still beauty. We may sometimes have to look harder but it’s there. Even with emotional pain, we can train our brains to seek out beauty and some sense of joy even when it’s hard.

“Diseases can be our spiritual flat tires – disruptions in our lives that seem to be disasters at the time but end by redirecting our lives in a meaningful way.” ~ Bernie S. Siegel, M.D.

Again, pain of any kind can teach us, strengthen us, deepen us, and guide us.

“One cannot get through life without pain….What we can do is choose how to use the pain life presents to us.” ~ Bernie S. Siegel, M.D.

This says it all! 😀 Let’s take all of our pain and struggles and use it all to our advantage.

I found a few things that help me cope with the pain and the psychological consequences of having an extremely painful disorder. One of them is art journaling, writing, painting, gluing, arts & crafts…another is reading positive quotes and other things and sharing them. This also helps with my depressive disorder. Sometimes just seeing a positive quote uplifts me even when I’m not feeling it completely.
We don’t always have to be or feel positive but it’s good in general to maintain a positive attitude, in my opinion.
And sharing quotes and happy photos to help others helps me also. I don’t share positive things to pretend everything is good, I share them because it really helps me often and it can inspire anyone who may see it. Also I try to find songs about physical pain to help me cope, there’s one called “Headache” by Frank Black and one called “Touch Me I’m Sick” by Mudhoney. And one called “Novocaine” by Green Day which may be about emotional pain but it can also apply to physical pain.

“Take away the sensation inside
Bitter sweet migraine in my head
Its like a throbbing tooth ache of the mind
I can’t take this feeling anymore
Drain the pressure from the swelling,
The sensations overwhelming”

Don’t I know it!

And one by Alice Cooper called “Pain” about all kinds of pain. Alice is singing as if he is Pain itself singing.
“You know me, I’m pain.”
“It’s a compliment to me to hear you scream me through the night, all night, tonight.”
“I’m pain
I’m your pain
Unspeakable pain
I’m your private pain”

He also has one called, “The Sharpest Pain” not really about physical pain but still, deep, agonizing pain.

Lol what a gloomy subject to be writing about but pain is part of being alive. Sometimes, even sharp, aching, throbbing, burning, wretched, overwhelming pain.

Much love, hope, strength, comfort, joy, and healing to you who are reading this no matter what your situation is.

Celebrate & Love the Authentic YOU <3

image

“Ask a flower in the field: ‘Do you feel useful? After all, you do nothing but produce the same flowers over and over?’ And the flower will answer: ‘I am beautiful, and beauty is my reason for living.’ Ask the river: ‘Do you feel useful, given that all you do is to keep flowing in the same direction?’ And the river will answer: ‘I’m not trying to be useful, I’m trying to be a river.’

Don’t try to be useful. Try to be yourself: that is enough, and that makes all the difference.

Walk neither faster nor slower than your own soul. Because it is your soul that will teach you the usefulness of each step you take. Sometimes taking part in a great battle But sometimes you can do that simply by smiling, for no reason, at someone you happen to pass in the street. Without intending to, you might have saved the life of a complete stranger, who also thought he was useless and might have been ready to kill himself, until a smile gave him new hope and confidence.”

Except of “Manuscript found in Accra”

Isn’t it beautiful?!

I woke up one morning, maybe two days ago, to a Positively Positive post in my e-mail box that I just find to be lovely.

Why “I Am Beautiful” Is A Problematic Statement For My 3-Year-Old

http://www.positivelypositive.com/2014/06/12/why-i-am-beautiful-is-a-problematic-statement-for-my-3-year-old/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+positivelypositive%2Fpositive+(Positively+Positive)

I had much difficulty sleeping for a couple nights because of my chronic pain disorder. I wasn’t viewing this painful experience in a positive or negative way, I was just taking it as it is. Just excruciatingly painful. It was making me sickly, fatigued, exhausted, yet, I couldn’t sleep well. I woke up after an extremely restless two and a half hours of sleep feeling drained, uninspired, dull, ragged, and wrung. At least I wasn’t hopeless or depressed though so that’s good.

😀

But when I read this post, I was inspired. It’s about how we don’t have to accept other people’s (or society as a whole) definition of us or labels we are branded with. Even positive labels such as “beautiful” or “perfect” “amazing.” You can just be YOU and that’s good enough.

Even positive labels and words we believe describe us well, can be detrimental if we feel we must live up to them so that people will continue to like us or so that we don’t have an identity crisis if that (positive) label begins to no longer apply to us.

We shouldn’t have to feel that we must live up to someone else’s definition of us. Or even our own definition of us if that definition is no longer or never was appropriate or for the best. We don’t have to accept or adhere to certain labels or descriptions people slap onto us, good or bad.

In this Positively Positive post, this mother’s three year old little girl rejects being called “beautiful” by her mother. Not necessarily because she doesn’t believe she, herself, is beautiful, but because she doesn’t care about being anything but herself. So many words, with positive and negative connotations alike, can apply to all of us. But we are still just us.  She reminds her mom that she’s not “beautiful,” she’s Summer, Summer which is the child’s name.

And that’s good enough.

And always will be good enough.

We don’t have to live up to any label that doesn’t serve us well. Not even labels we gave ourselves, ones which were at one point, good for us.

In high school and middle school, for a couple years I was considered “smart.” I got all A’s and B’s and never needed much help with my school work to maintain slightly above average grades. Other kids knew me for being “smart” and I took on the label for myself. I felt much pressure to maintain a “smart” image and receive the same grades or better on each report card. Sometimes I really did need help, especially with math. It was difficult for me but I feared that if I asked for help, I wouldn’t be the “smart” girl any longer. Then one day I got my report card and received a “C” in Algebra in 10th grade.

I only valued myself for being “smart.” My sense of identify and self worth shattered. I thought so low of myself and wondered what others would think of me once I told them. I was no longer the “smart” girl. Then what was I? Who was I? I was still me. The same me I always was, am now, and always will be. I just never realized it then.

Sometimes even now I have certain words I love to label myself with. “Happy” “Cheerful” “Positive” “Optimistic” “Someone who is so happy to be alive.”

And the list goes on. And while generally these labels very much apply to me, they don’t always. I’m not always happy or cheerful or positive. And when I am not experiencing those feelings or traits, am I still me? Of course I am!

I may experience a mini identity crisis when I feel as if I’m not living up to the me I try to create myself to be, the me most people know me as. But I’m still that me. Traits, emotions, thoughts, qualities, labels, feelings…fluctuate and change but deep inside we are still us.

Deep inside, there is some immutable essence that will always be me. Always be you. Even when your thoughts, feelings, and qualities change for better and for worse.

You’re beautiful because you’re you. Not because you’re thin. Or curvy, have long hair or short hair, not because of your intelligence or your ability to solve problems, not because you’re some definition of perfect or always happy or always helpful or always inspired or inspiring…your beauty is everything you are, all rolled into one, good and bad, together, flaws, perfections, mutable traits and all.

You can label yourself but let those labels change when they no longer serve you and know that’s ok.

Give your name its own definition. One that fits you well. One that you create for yourself.

It’s beautiful what a three year old little girl and her mom can teach & remind us, even a three year old little girl and her mama we never laid eyes on in person.

Fifteen Happiness Killing Habits

image

Here are some little habits that I believe get in the way of happiness & joy and cause unnecessary stress. I have done all of these and I think many or most people probably do a few of these every now and again. I think we should not make these things into serious habits and if they already are a bad habit for us, we can “unlearn” them. With practice, we can learn to avoid these happiness killers and cultivate positive habits instead.

1.) Overly comparing yourself with others
This is something so many of us do constantly.   I used to do this so much. We look at people around us, people on Facebook & blogs, coworkers, celebrities, peers, family members….and see how much “better” we think they have it. Everyone lives at their own pace and even some people who seem to “have it all”  are often unhappy and people with very little material objects & things can be very happy & fulfilled. If you catch yourself comparing yourself negatively to others, it may benefit you to stop and remind yourself of a few things that are going right for you and make that a habit until eventually the negative comparisons will mostly stop. Let us be inspired, motivated by, and in awe of other people’s successes and not jealous or depressed over them.  It’s better to focus on being better than your previous self, not better than someone else.  Dwelling on feeling low about your own life or self won’t help you. Change what you can if you really want to; it’s worth it! And accept what you can’t change!   Let you & your life be your own kind of beautiful!

2.) Dwelling on or obsessing over what other people think

It’s ok & healthy to care to a certain degree what others think of us but it should not be so important that it stresses us out or takes over our lives, making us deny or repress our true selves.  Everyone has good things & bad things, people who like them and people who don’t. It’s good to just focus on being our true selves no matter what.  What YOU think of you matters most! 🙂

3.) Putting happiness on hold until the “perfect” moment or until something big happens.

Often, we feel that we can’t or won’t be happy or we can’t celebrate life until….we have a better job, more money, lose five pounds, have kids, get married, graduate, get a work promotion, go on vacation, the weekend, next year…..and it’s ok to want and work for all of that but we should never let it take away right NOW.  Ordinary occurrences, days, & moments are just as important and are a true gift. Let’s not lose them for something “bigger & better.”
Wear your favorite earrings, your favorite clothes, buy yourself flowers, NOW!
Celebrate NOW. Celebrate you.  Celebrate life itself.   Be happy NOW!.   ;-D

4.) holding onto grudges

Almost everyone has been or will be hurt in some way by someone else. It may be a small way or in a significant, tragic, life-changing way. I don’t believe that forgiveness is always necessary but whether or not we completely forgive, we should not let what someone did to us, destroy us. We can let go or find ways to cope with the hostile feelings we have for people who hurt us and not dwell on the person or incident.   Forgiveness doesn’t have to mean believing what the person did is ok, it means we choose to no longer let it have a hold on us.
You don’t have to love or accept the person, just let go for yourself. And accept yourself!

5.) getting wrapped up in trivial arguments/not letting things slide

Some things really have to be confronted but many things can be let go before anything even begins…maybe a rude comment made by someone, a stranger pushing you out of the way on a crowded bus, someone accusing you of being wrong about something trivial when you know you’re right, someone trying to start a frivolous argument with you….these things can often be brushed off and are often not even worthy of your attention.  Definitely stand up for yourself, express yourself, have a backbone but there’s no need to blow things out of proportion. Some things can be ignored so we can move forward and get on with our lives.
It may appear to be a “weakness” on your part or like the other person got over on you but I believe just the opposite. When you can maintain your composure and keep calm in and out that is a true strength and no one got over on you! When you get all worked up and furious then someone got over on you. Even if you punch the person in the face or yell insults, you let your anger get the better of you.

6.) doing things for people just for “credit” or appearance or for something in return

Being “fake” and acting kind & friendly to people just for a certain reputation or to get stuff out of it is likely to leave someone feeling unfulfilled. If you really just don’t care about being kind to people, helping others, maybe you can find something else you love instead of putting on a show. Doing something you don’t like, pretending to be someone you aren’t can make you feel hollow inside.   Emptiness is an unpleasant emotion. And as the saying goes, it’s better to be hated for what you are than loved for what you are not. It’s so true, imo.
I think we should help others because we genuinely want to even if no one knows and even if we don’t get tangible rewards out of it. Helping people is beautiful!   And helping animals too!

7.) being too concerned with money

It’s ok to want & work for money but it’s not the best thing in life, in my opinion anyway. There are more fulfilling things, like rewarding jobs helping people or ones that are fun and interesting, even if they are low paying jobs. We don’t have to be stacked to be happy! ;-D. We can do volunteer work or paid word that is truly rewarding. This is just my opinion. I think some people feel like they need money to be happy when if they look within themselves they’ll see it’s not so true. But if someone really is interested in money more than anything and has no problem with that and is fulfilled anyway, that’s ok! Whatever floats your boat!
:-D. As long as you’re truly fulfilled!

8.) Dwelling on lack  & loss instead of abundance & gratitude

We all lack something & will eventually lose something.   And we can dwell on that if we want to. But we also have so much to be grateful for and can dwell on that instead!

“You can cling to your loss or learn to dance again.”
This can be difficult but it is possible with practice & a positive frame of mind.

This quote helped me tremendously when my grief over the loss of my dog was overwhelming me, many months later. I think it may be a biblical/spiritual quote. I’m not religious or anything but I still find beauty and inspiration in some religious/spuritual stuff. I still have difficulty coping with the loss of my dog in April 2013. But it helps me to focus on what I do have.

You can work for more while still Acknowledging and appreciating what you currently have.

9.) being stuck in the past or obsessing over the future

Remembering & planning is good. But we are alive now and should not let our past imprison us either by regretting it frequently or mourning it and we don’t have to fear the unknown of the future or put happiness on hold for it.

10.) resisting the flow of life/reality

We should definitely work to make things better. But life will always be happy & sad, positive & negative, pleasant & unpleasant & joyful & painful. That can’t be changed. Not all bad can be eradicated. Some things just have to be accepted for peace of mind. We should in no way ignore or deny negativity or pain, just accept it and embrace it when it can’t be changed.

11.) taking life too seriously.

Some things just have to be laughed at, joked about, and let go. Everything doesn’t have to be a big thing to get angry over, stress over, break down over & held on to. Don’t sweat the small stuff and it’s all small stuff! 😉

12.) perpetuating gossip/drama:
Even if you yourself aren’t into gossip & drama, as long as you live and interact with people, at one point or another you will probably encounter someone who spreads gossip about you or tries to bring drama to you one way or another. I see so frequently on Facebook, usually girl’s, posting statuses like “She’s talking shit about me again..blah blah blahhh…” & “Shut your mouth instead of blabbing stuff about my life….” & “People are talking so much about me and I’m tired of the drama….” & “I want to punch her in the face or bitch slap her….”.
Some of these girls probably really are innocent “victims” of someone gossiping and being dramatic and want nothing to do with it and are just venting  but when I see statuses like that I often think that many of these girls secretly like being the “victim” of it or engaging in it and they want everyone on their list to see that they have something going on in their lives. They often don’t post names but just allude to someone. If you really don’t like gossip & drama, I believe that it’s best not to even post statuses like that at all and either ignore the gossipers & drama queens or confront them in a calm civil manner & just focus on being a great person yourself. Even if you don’t post names, you’re still engaging in & perpetuating it. I don’t mind seeing these statuses at all, they have nothing to do with me and I can always block or “x” the person’s posts out if I want. People can post whatever they want on their account but my point is that negative girly gossip & drama can stress us out & in my opinion isn’t at all attractive or interesting. Those have to be some of the most boring statuses I have ever read. But some people really take pleasure in them. Whatever floats your boat! :-D. I’m not innocent of those posts, I have posted a couple some years ago on rare occasions and it brought me nothing good.

13.) Harboring excessive or delusional guilt: Sometimes we may feel guilty when our lives are going well and tragedy has struck somewhere else. But repressing our own gratitude will not help in any way. It’s ok to be happy even when others aren’t. We can have empathy & compassion for them and reach out to them while still embracing our own lives.
We don’t have to be “in their faces” with how great it’s all going for us but we don’t have to feel guilty and repress our own happiness either. We can find a healthy balance when being around people who are suffering when we are not.
And if you unintentionally hurt someone and are truly sorry, forgive yourself even if that person doesn’t.   We all make some kind of mistakes.   And if you hurt someone intentionally, still, you deserve your own forgiveness. You can learn, realize you were wrong, and move forward with true intentions to not hurt people on purpose again.
You cannot take responsibility for the entire world or everyone you know. Go easy on yourself.   You can’t do everything, cure everyone, or help everyone.   Just be the best you that you can be without trying for some objective sense of Perfection.

14.) Obsessing over/attempting perfection :

No one can be perfect in everyone’s eyes and even if we could, we shouldn’t try, in my opinion. We should just consciously be our authentic selves. Perfection is actually subjective for the most part. What’s perfect to me may not be to you.   Why be my definition of perfect?   Or Society’s? Or your friends’, family’s, or lover’s? Making some compromises to be compatible with others is sometimes a very good thing but denying your whole true self or most of yourself for someone else is detrimental to you. You are just as important as anyone else.

Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one’s definition of your life; define yourself.
Harvey Fierstein

15.) Treating yourself horribly/thinking/talking negatively in reference to yourself:

Many people mistreat themselves terribly in ways they would never dream of treating others. They verbally abuse themselves frequently with words like “Stupid,” “fat,” “loser,” “no good,” and the list goes on…..

Would you call your best friend “fat” or your mom? Do you constantly call your friends “stupid” not just in a playful way but seriously to offend?   Probably not. And you shouldn’t do that to yourself!   You are no less than anyone else! Instead when you catch yourself calling yourself insults or thinking negatively about yourself whether it’s true or not, think of how you can work on yourself to change for the better.  If you really think you’re stupid see what you can do to not feel that way. And when you think of Negative words about yourself, then think of three or more positive qualities you possess. And if there’s ones you would like to have but feel that you don’t yet have them, think of ways you can work on yourself to develop or strengthen them. But don’t abuse yourself.
I have worked hard to change certain ways and things I think about me. Years ago I constantly referred to myself as a “loser,” “piece of shit,” “worthless,” “taking up more space then I deserve in this world,” and I would frequently say and think things like “I would rather be dead!” or “If that ever happens I will die!”
Now I do not say or think those things. Not even in jest. It’s not funny and even as a joke it may unconsciously bring me down.

Habits can be intentionally and unintentionally learned and ingrained.   And they can be un-learned with practice and conscious application.   It is definitely worth the work!

“We’ve got this gift of love, but love is like a precious plant. You can’t just accept it and leave it in the cupboard or just think it’s going to get on by itself. You’ve got to keep watering it. You’ve got to really look after it and nurture it.”
John Lennon
