Cool Night🧡

Cool Night – Paul Davis❤
I sometimes wonder why all the flowers have to die
I dream about you and now Summer’s come and gone
And the nights they seem so long
Come on over tonight, come on over
It’s gonna be a cool night
Just let me hold you by the firelight
If it don’t feel right, you can go
Oh, when the cool night
Brings back memories of a good life…

Here is a post I just put on Instagram and sharing it here as well! With an extra picture! I’m in this park, Liberty Lands, tonight! I love this park! I come here all year long in every season!

“…This clearly shows that until now we have not found a correct method for reducing our problems and increasing happiness. The actual correct method for doing this is changing our attitude from negative to positive. We must understand this through our own experience. If we check carefully how we are experiencing problems and unhappiness, we can understand that they are all created by our uncontrolled desire, wishing ourself to be happy all the time. By stopping this wish and instead wishing for others to be happy all the time, we will not have any problems or unhappiness at all.”❤

I’m at this park right now and was reading this Buddhist book(and drinking a pumpkin latte, of course!)! It’s so beautiful at night with the cool breeze and trees blowing around and the sky is pink! 💗

Peace 🕉💞

Today, I was approached by an adorable & (most likely) FAKE Buddhist monk. Lol I saw these monks before and felt that there is something “off” about them but can’t say what for sure. For one thing, they don’t seem to be representing any specific Center, sect, spiritual guide, or organization (maybe this isn’t unusual but to me it seems like it) and they are a bit hasty in their encounters like quick to get people to take their jewelry & quick to get away. Monks are warm, loving, welcoming, and open to staying around for people to talk to. These ones ask us to take a vow to live in peace then they bolt!

These monks I see around the streets of Center City, Philadelphia approach random people and don’t talk much and they invade people’s personal space(I don’t mind this but some people don’t like people getting in their faces lol And Buddhist monks are good for acting according to people’s needs and desires. I saw a loving couple holding hands, recoil in fear one day as one of these monks approached them and he kept pressing forward even after seeing they wanted nothing to do with him) and not all but some are kind of pushy. He gave me a bracelet and golden card about peace. I knew automatically that he would want money so I pulled some out and he snatched it greedily. That is what confirmed my intuition that something is “off,” not the fact he was collecting money(genuine spiritual/religious people can collect money for their churches, temples, communities, fundraisers) but the greedy way in which he took it, almost as if he had to get it off me before I changed my mind and he was desperate for it. Even the average homeless people I encounter each day don’t snatch my money like this. Lol Because they aren’t doing anything shady. Greed should not be one of the things we sense when encountering a monk. If there is a greedy monk to the point he snatches money, he is corrupt or fake or not spirtually advanced enough to be a monk yet. While monks are human and still have human emotion/experiences, greed like that should have been purified or tamed by this point.

One of the things Buddhist people practice is accepting what is or whatever may happen, pleasant or not and another is practicing peace. There was nothing remotely peaceful or accepting about the way he took the money. A genuine monk would allow someone the opportunity to change her mind and not donate, without caring about the money.

I love these kinds of bracelets and especially love the gold card so it was worth handing over some cash (unless the money is going to something terrible!). Lol

After the encounter, I decided to look up the experience being approached by these cute little greedy monks. And well, sure enough, my intuition/gut was correct! They aren’t cute little monks at all; they are cute little scammers, dressed like monks(at least according to others who have encountered them!)! They walk around with a Mala and beaded bracelets and place one of the bracelets on the wrist of whoever they approach. The one who came up to me folded his hands in prayer and said “peace.”

The quality of the jewelry, at least the ones I saw, are good and they do seem to allow whatever amount of money someone wants to give, though someone wrote they get annoyed if someone gives a low amount. You still get to keep the beads though!

I think the scam here is that they are not monks at all and they lead people to believe they just had a special spiritual encounter and people probably think the money is going to some good cause and it’s probably not. Theyre probably just spending it on themselves. This “monk” asked me to vow to live in peace, which I find inspiring even if he’s a scammer.

They are not only in various cities but even different countries! So wherever you are, beware! They are approaching random unsuspecting people and convincing them to hand over money for cards & jewerly. This doesnt seem too bad; the jewerly is good; the golden cards are inspiring, and we can choose whether or not to give money and how much. But the immoral part is, they are not who they pretend to be. So our choice to hand over money may not be as voluntary as it seems. I love beads so I don’t care who sells me it but others may only buy it thinking it’s going to a good cause when it’s going who knows where and some may only buy the beads thinking they are special as they are given by a monk and here these are not monks, just little old men dressed as monks.

And the money may be going to something that is immoral or that the donor of the money does not support, who knows? Also, I don’t know where they get these bead bracelets, like do they make them themselves, steal them, have others make them?

Anyway, I’m a little bit “too” lighthearted and easily amused so I laughed at the idea of being scammed by a little old man in a monk costume. But others felt violated and deceived after.

I still love my beads & card! And I am taking my vow seriously to live even more peacefully. The pretty golden card is a beautiful reminder to act, speak, and think in peace. Even though it is intended as a scam, it can be used for good! I took the Bodhisattva vow in June 2016 and the card is a beautiful reminder!

Here are a few lessens:

1.) Be careful who we trust, even little old, innocent looking men and people who appear to be spiritual guides! Ask questions before doing anything and if there is no clear answer, walk away!

2.) Trust your gut! An old cliche but a wise one! My intuition told me something was not quite what it may have appeared to be.

3.) Make the best of a situation. We still have the pretty beads & card! They are reminders to live in peace! Take something that is used for bad and turn it good!

4.) Watch out for cute, little old men posing as Monks strolling through the city streets (of various cities & countries!)! Lol They are shady! Also, there have been reports of them following people, not taking no for and answer, and being physically aggressive and getting arrested!

Much love, light, & peace to you! And remember, be cautious & stay safe on those city streets!

More good news!!!❤

Hero – Mariah Carey
Look inside you and be strong
And you’ll finally see the truth
That a hero lies in you❤

Yes, I love being the bearer of happy news!! 😁

A lady who I know, named Susan, told me last week about a rowing competition she was going to be in over the weekend. She’s very good at it and it’s one of her passions. She asked me to say a little prayer for her. I don’t pray but I did try to send some positive energy her way. Not that I believe that would help her win but it can’t hurt! And, like prayer, it can help let people know we wish them well.

I hoped she would win just as much as if I was in the competition myself and wanted to win! And I just found out today that she won FIRST PLACE!! I’m so, so happy!

She showed me her medal and it’s beautiful! Some parts of it are pink! 💗

When I was thinking about preparing this blog post just to share my good news, I thought it would be sweet to share an inspirational quote along with it and this one popped into my head.

The only disability in life is a bad attitude.

Susan has a dog who is physically disabled, permanently. He developed spinal stenosis a couple years ago and his vet suggested Susan and her mom (who she lives with) have him euthanized but they knew that wasn’t the answer. They love him like their kid/grandkid and saw potential in him. (He is not suffering in any way or in pain; he just cannot walk on his own or stand up)

So as part of my job, I visit them and help a physical therapist help Bandit walk again. He needs a cart/doggy wheelchair but he can move his legs again and even run sometimes! He just cannot hold himself up without his cart on wheels.

He is a very happy and spoiled and healthy ten year old boy! He loves treats, kisses, and toys! And bubbles! He can now move his legs more and pull himself up but not stand. Also, he recently began to “run” in his sleep! His little legs move back and forth. So cute! Actually, he’s a big mountain dog so his legs aren’t little!

Bandit gives me bunches of wet, sloppy kisses while we’re putting him in his wheelchair! Sometimes, he kisses me so much, it’s hard to get the job done!😍😁 Mary & Susan say I’m his favorite girl!

After thinking of this quote and thinking it’s a great quote for this post since Bandit has a disability, I remembered Susan also has a physical disability. She was born permanently paralyzed at the waist down. She is also very happy and healthy. I never thought of her own disability while planning this post and even after thinking about this quote. When I think of Susan, I think only of her positive disposition, her kindness for others, and her bright smile, and love for her dog.

Susan and her mom are both very loving, positive people. They’re universal lovers, like me. They welcome anyone into their house for holidays or events so no one has to be alone(If I lived alone, I would do this too!).

Susan’s mom, Mary, is 86 years old and very healthy! She has arthritis and osteoporosis but she gets around very well and her doctor told her she’ll live to be over 100 years old with the great health she’s in!

Susan, Mary, and Bandit all have physical limitations but they don’t let that stop them ever. Very inspiring!

We may have a physical disability, learning disability, or psychological disability like depression or anxiety but the true disability is a bad attitude.

A bad attitude will disable us much more than a medical disability ever can. There are people with no arms and legs, deaf/blind people, ones with chronic illness and pain, people with depression/anxiety, very old people, those who are grieving…who have achieved remarkable things while in their state. There are dogs and cats with only three legs or less and ones with legs that don’t work and are still happy.

Susan, & Bandit, & Mary are examples.

A medical disability doesn’t disable us. Disabled people are very able! It’s our attitude that holds us back when it’s not good.

And we have control over our attitude. Even if we can’t change it this very moment, we can work on it in small ways to make it better and better if it’s currently negative. Make gratitude lists, meditate, positive affirmations, looking at the bright side, focus on the beauty all around….all ways to be more positive. Even mental health issues and attitude can be separated. We can have depression or anxiety but still have a positive attitude about it.

So let’s remember to turn that frown upside down and be positive! We aren’t disabled unless we choose to be.

The main point of my post was originally to share Susan’s good news but there’s so much inspiration in her story so I’m also sharing the life lessons!

I hope you are having a beautiful day or night wherever in the world you are! ❤❤❤

Courage ❤

“Courage is not the absence of fear but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear. The brave may not live forever but the cautious do not live at all. From now on you’ll be traveling the road between who you think you are and who you can be. The key is to allow yourself to make the journey.”

I was watching the Princess Diaries movie and found this gem!

If there is something that truly resonates with us and we avoid it out of fear then we are placing more importance upon the fear than whatever it is that is calling to us.

If there is something you have been longing to do but fear is holding you back and you need a little push, here it is! 😁❤

Much love & light,

Xoxo Kim

Valerie❤

(Valerie 💛)

So cool, she was like
Jazz on a summer’s day
Music, high and sweet
Then she just blew away
Now she can’t be that warm
With the wind in her arms
Valerie, call on me
Call on me, Valerie

Valerie – Steve Winwood

Recently, one of my social media friends, Valerie, died by suicide. Isn’t this so absolutely terrible?!?! She was born in August 1965 & died in August 2018. I did not know her in person or talk to her much on social media or know her well but can see she was a sweet person with a pure heart. The news about her death is like being stabbed in the gut, especially because it seems so senseless like it did not have to happen. Valerie was like me, very open & accepting and added/accepted everyone as social media friends. Her life philosophy, loving & including everyone, resonates with me deeply. I can even call her one of my soul sisters as our energy/vibration has been on the same wavelength.

Valerie loved coffee, music, people, and animals.

I always wished I had her name because I love the song by Steve Winwood! Recently, before she died, I was in Rite Aid and got a bottle of soda and chose the one with her name and thought of her.

She posted a lot of sweet, beautiful, and inspiring messages and also a bunch of (very liberal) political rants. I do not agree with all that she shared or the way she shared some of it (sometimes sarcastic) but a lot of her posts resonate with me. The reason I am sharing here that I did not always agree with her is as a reminder that we can disagree with someone but still love that person and still be friends. This was also her philosophy of life so I want to share it to honor her.

(She shared this)

Love songs fill the night
But they don’t tell it all
Not how lovers cry out
Just like they’re dying
Her cries hang there, in time,
Somewhere, someday,
Some good wind
May blow her back to me
Some night I may hear
Her like she used to be
No it can’t be that warm
With the wind in her arms
Valerie, call on me
Call on me, Valerie

Here are just a few posts on Valerie’s facebook account, most of it shared by her and a couple she is tagged in by others and liked:

(This makes me laugh hysterically 😂🤣)

(That’s Valerie’s writing under the pic)

(I wish Valerie would have remembered this when she made that ultimate choice out of fear & pain 💔)

(I dont care if people dont repost this. I dont repost these things that demand us to to repost or try to make us seem cold and non-caring. Im only posting this here to show Valerie’s kind heart.)

This is a small thing I am doing to keep Valerie’s lovelight going after her death.

She was a strong person but also tender and sensitive in a way. She wanted to be loved, noticed, called beautiful…

She was open about her depression and struggle and some of these posts show what it was like for her. She was clearly a strong person who kept winning these battles in her war of depression but one moment she chose to give into that despair and now her war is over but so is everything else about her. All of her interests, memories, activities each day, her voice, her smile, any new acts of kindness she would have performed, any chance of healing, all of her ways and everything that made her her…..all gone forever.

I know it felt like it then but it wasn’t worth it to end it all just to end that horrible pain. The world needs MORE like Valerie and now she just made it so there’s one less.

So I’m doing my part to continue her light & lavish her love onto others.

Sweet Valerie.

We can see by all these messages she believed in that she was very wise but she still made the choice to take her own life. This is because all it takes is a split second to forget all that wisdom and beauty and give into the darkness. But deep within, she still held that wisdom. We all do. Please let’s remember to hold onto what we know even when it feels impossible to hold on. I have no question of “why” like many people do. I know why. I completely understand why a person would take her own life. It makes complete sense to me but it’s not a good thing to do. She killed everything she was all just to end her pain.

Like I said, Valerie and me weren’t close. I hardly knew her. I hope all the love/healing thoughts will be for her close family & friends first. My love goes out to them and also to everyone else affected by this tragic loss, including her social media friends. What heartbreak.

She struggled hard but all she wanted was others to be happy and to take away their pain. 💔❤

I’m so thankful for the opportunity to share her love here. I hope it will inspire others like she wanted. Valerie was a beautiful soul inside & out.

If I could have taken away her pain, even if I had to bear it myself, I would have.❤💗

To anyone struggling like Valerie was or anyone grieving, I love you!! Please keep going. ❤ ~Hugs~

Much love,

Happy Tara Day!💚♡

Happy Tara Day!!!💚♡

Tara is a female Buddha. She is the embodiment or symbol of love, longevity, health…Every 8th day of the month is Tara day!

Her mantra:

Om tare tuttare ture soha
Om Tare Tuttare Ture Mama Ayuh Punya Jñana Pustim Kuru Svaha

Some praises:

“Homage to the blissful, virtuous, peaceful one
Object of practice, nirvana’s peace
Perfectly endowed with SOHA andOM
Overcoming all the great evils.”

“She of the face like the full moons of autumn
that blazes the light of the stars in their thousands.”

“On her brow she wears radiant joy like a tiara
charming demons and gods
with her laugh of Tutara.”

“She can summon the guards of this world of desire.
With wrathful expression, when Hung! does she utter,
she liberates everyone, no more to suffering.”

(When it says “wrathful,” it’s referring to her wrath against things like delusions, ignorance, anger, fear, difficult states of mind…not wrath against any living beings. Tara is love.❤)

Summer Luvin’😍🌻🍃🌞☀️🥀

Southern Nights – Glen Campbell

Southern skies
Have you ever noticed Southern skies?
Its precious beauty lies just beyond the eye
It goes running through your soul
Like the stories told of old

Old man, he and his dog
They walk the old land
Every flower touched his cold hand
As he slowly walked by
Weeping willows would cry for joy, joy
Feels so good
Feels so good, it’s frightening

I have been more happy & thankful than usual this year for Summer! All four seasons are beautiful and I love to stop & appreciate the beauty of each one. But I must admit that often during Summer, I find myself dreaming of Fall & Winter wanting it to hurry up and get here. This year though, I havent had those thoughts. Maybe I’m getting better with my mindfulness lifestyle or maybe I’m just loving Summer more. Or maybe a lil bit of both?! 🦋🐌🐜🐝🐞🕷🌸🌻🌞☀️

Anyway, I have been really feelin’ those Summer vibes & loving it! I’m not waiting for Summer to be over this year though I won’t mind when it is. Every season is lovely and each one brings out the beauty of the others more. Living in a place where all four are different, is a gift!

Also, I havent been on any fun vacations this Summer and very likely, I wont be. I have never been the biggest fan of going on vacations but wouldnt mind going on one. I dont have money usually and no one to go with. A girl can go on vacation alone and still have fun but I’m an extrovert and prefer doing things like that with others. I love my own company but still love the idea of hanging out with people.

My point is that we don’t need vacations or even staycations with bbqs and friend/family activities(though that is amazing!!) to channel those summer vibes and make some of our best memories ever!

I’m just soaking up the sunshine with my dogs (both my own and those im a nanny for) and loving the beauty all around me! I love that it’s July and even during the scortching heatwaves where it’s all humid, sticky, and disgusting, I love it! I walk all around the city (not in these shoes!) and bask in all the beauty it has to offer me.

When I dream of the future, I see me simply sitting by the Riverside with an iced latte(probably a mocha one!) and a book in my hand, preferably a Buddha book! And it thrills me!

I see posts on social media, often posted by moms of young children, about people feeling unhappy or low about the fact that their friends and others are doing amazing things like going to beaches and waterparks and other summery places to have fun while theyre at home doing nothing of that sort.

Hugs to anyone who feels this way!

Let’s remember we dont need extravagant things to be happy! We can be happy in our own back yard or living room or front porch. Some of my most cherished memories and best days are simple, uneventful ones with just myself, a cup of tea, and a thrilling book or movie!

Best Days ❤ (An old blog post of mine about how any ole day can be the absolute best)

So here is a reminder to make the best of where we are now whether it’s the best season (in nature or in life) or a not so pleasant one to us. We are HERE! Let’s love it & bloom where we’re planted. This is my baby right here. She always remembers to stop and appreciate the simple joys of life like smelling the flowers and rolling around in the grass and snow. She was a shelter dog for a long while then she found the perfect loving furever home with her sweet mommies! I am her nanny!😍 Best job ever!!

There is an abundance of beauty & joy all around, right here, right now.

Here are just some of the pictures I have that capture the Summer luvin’ in each day!❤

Much love & light to you,

Xoxo Kim

My dog, Boobie❤

My dog, Boobie, five years ago today!! Tomorrow will be the second anniversary of her death. She was an old girl. While I am sad & grieving, I know the most important thing is that she lived. She had a loving furever home with my family for nearly 14 years. She even has two puppies who my family kept! A boy & a girl who are almost four years old(this month!). Every year on mother’s day, Boobie’s birthday, and the anniversary that she came to live with us, we buy her puppies a special treat to honor her. We used to buy her special gifts and now it’s a gift to be able to celebrate her by giving her pups something extra! How sweet! We also have Boobie’s baby daddy. Lol He’s a little pomeranian and so cute! What a sweet little family.

“You can shed tears that she is gone
or you can smile because she has lived.

You can close your eyes and pray that she’ll come back
or you can open your eyes and see all she’s left.

Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her
or you can be full of the love you shared.

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember her and only that she’s gone
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.

You can cry and close your mind,
be empty and turn your back
or you can do what she’d want:
smile, open your eyes, love, and go on.”❤

~Hugs~

Much love & light, always,

Xoxo Kim

Always look on the bright side of life😁🌞💛

Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse
When you’re chewing on life’s gristle
Don’t grumble, give a whistle and this’ll help things turn out for the best
And…
Always look on the bright side of life

Bright Side of Life (song)

Sometimes, I share posts on facebook with heartwarming stories about animals who were abused/severely injured and left to die but were suddenly rescued by Earth angels and saved then forstered & adopted! How beautiful! Whenever I share a post like this, theres almost always someone who comments or reacts with the crying face emoji.

This doesnt resonate with me because im prone to seeing the bright side of things, not always but usually. I have a natural inclination to see the good and I have strengthened that natural inclination with personal development techniques like meditation and intentional gratitude practice. I definitely still have room to evolve!

Instead of crying about the dogs being abused & injured, abandoned, neglected…why not rejoice in the fact that they are now healed and have loving furever homes? Of course it’s sad, devastating, that those poor babies had to suffer like that. But we have a choice to focus on that or focus on the happy ending.

This goes for everything in this life. We can dwell on the pain, negativity, unpleasant or give thanks for the good, the beauty, the pleasant.

This is a great reminder to me even though I’m generally positive. Recently, I let myself sink into a deep, dark, depression because of something I wish was different. Depression is an illness but we do have some degree of control over certain aspects. Through the years, I have learned how to often prevent a fullblown episode of depression before it hits, when I can feel it about to come on.

If I would have made the choice to not dwell on this thing I wish was different and instead give thanks for everything that is good and all the life lessons learned through the “bad,” there’s a good chance, I would have prevented the hell I was living in for over a month. After it already pulled me in, there was no getting out of it until it finally ended, gradually, on its own. I already receive professional help but still struggle with it on and off.

So it’s especially important for me to remember to look on the bright side of life!

And, I want to share this screen capture of a photo of this beautiful girl! She was on an episode of The Ellen Show. I remember her expressing compassion for people with any sort of struggle such as job less. She said we’re all in this together. This is a woman who lost her toddler son in a tragic accident. She LOST HER SON! He died. Like, he’s never coming back. He was laughing and playing one second and a second later, he was gone forever. And she can still smile like this. And express compassion for others who have experienced nothing near as horrific as what she has experienced & still experiences after such a significant loss. Awe-inspiring.

A sweet reminder to us all!

Much love & light,

Xoxo Kim❤
